The Swachh Sujal Gaon, developed at Mahakumbh 2025 by the Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Departments under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has emerged as a major attraction, drawing over 11 lakh visitors so far. Spread across 40,000 square feet, the village highlights Uttar Pradesh’s remarkable rural transformation through government initiatives.

The model village presents a success story of sustainable development, offering visitors an insight into how landmark reforms have reshaped the rural landscape. A key attraction is the Jal Prasad tradition, where guests are honored with sacred water offerings, reinforcing the theme of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’. Additionally, a Ganga Jal Aarti is performed daily, adding a spiritual dimension to the initiative.

The Swachh Sujal Gaon has witnessed peak footfall on dates like January 19, 24, 26, and February 9, with visitor counts exceeding one lakh per day. However, entry was restricted during major bathing festivals to manage crowd flow.

One of the key highlights of the village is the Jal Jeevan Mission, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath, which has ensured access to clean drinking water for every household in Bundelkhand. The transformation of this previously water-scarce region into a water-secure landscape is being showcased, along with success stories of women whose lives have been significantly improved.

Visitors also get a firsthand experience of other rural development initiatives, including the PM Awas Yojana, CM Awas Yojana, Panchayat schemes, and the use of solar energy for sustainable growth. The village is open until February 26, 2025, under the theme ‘Peyjal Ka Samadhan, Mere Gaon Ki Nai Pehchaan’ (Water Solution, My Village’s New Identity).

A key attraction within the village is the Jal Mandir, where water flows from Lord Shiva’s locks, symbolizing the descent of Ganga to Earth. The temple underscores the sacred and life-giving nature of water, reinforcing the message of conservation and sustainability. Daily Ganga Jal Aarti is held here, along with exhibitions and awareness programs.

The initiative also provides a platform for rural women from Bundelkhand to share their experiences. Women from Banda, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lalitpur, and Mahoba have spoken about how access to clean water has transformed their daily lives, reducing hardships like carrying heavy loads over long distances.

To ensure inclusivity, information in the village is available in Hindi, English, Bengali, Telugu, and Marathi, catering to visitors from across Bharat. As a token of appreciation, guests are presented with ‘Jal Prasad’ in jute bags, containing Sangam water, a diary on the Jal Jeevan Mission, and educational materials on water conservation.

With its unique blend of spiritual, environmental, and developmental themes, the Swachh Sujal Gaon at Mahakumbh 2025 stands as a model of rural transformation and sustainability, reinforcing Bharat’s commitment to water conservation and holistic progress.
