The eighth edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC), an annual initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help students manage exam-related stress, has kicked off with a fresh new format in 2025. This time, PPC was held outdoors, offering an interactive experience that featured direct conversations with students. PM Modi, in his characteristic motivating style, emphasised key factors such as sleep, nutrition, and overcoming exam pressure, urging students to stay focused on their studies and pursue their passions. The event continues to grow in scale, with more than 3.5 crore students registering this year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while interacting with students, advised them to turn their failures into lessons. Highlighting the significance of technology, he encouraged students to understand and make optimal use of it.

“A student’s life does not stop if they fail an exam. One must decide whether they want to succeed in life or books… You should turn your failures into your teachers… You are fortunate to be born in an era of technology, and our focus should be to understanding technology and have an optimum utilisation of it,” PM Modi said.

During the interaction, he emphasised the importance of holistic development, saying that students cannot grow if they are confined to textbooks.

“… Students are not robots. We study for our holistic development… Students cannot grow if they are trapped in books… Students need to do their favourite activities; only then can they perform well in exams… One should not live with the mentality that exams are everything… One should gain as much knowledge as possible but not think that exams are everything… One should develop a habit of writing,” he added. He further stressed the importance of allowing children to explore their passions freely. “Kids should not be confined. They need the freedom to explore their passion. Knowledge and exams are two different things,” he added.

The Prime Minister also spoke on time management, advising students to stay focused on the present. “… One should think about how they can utilise their time the most… A student should focus on the present… You should share your thoughts with someone without any hesitation; otherwise, your mind will explode… Our family is a university in itself,” he said.

PM Modi also suggested that students develop the habit of writing. He gave an example, encouraging students to write about the positive qualities of their friends or people they meet.

The eighth edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha has broken new ground in terms of both its format and participation, establishing itself as a monumental event for students nationwide. Over 3.56 crore students have registered for this year’s edition, marking a significant surge from the 2.26 crore registrations in 2024. This year’s PPC took place in an unconventional, open-air setting, unlike the previous editions held indoors at the Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi.

In his interaction with the students, PM Modi reinforced the importance of good sleep and proper nutrition, describing them as essential components for achieving good health and enhancing mental well-being.

Speaking on the importance of sleep, PM Modi highlighted that simply being free from illness does not equate to being truly healthy. “Sleep is also dependent on nutrition,” he remarked, stressing the need for students to maintain a balanced lifestyle in order to perform well during exams and in life. He further advised the students to get some early morning sunlight for both physical and mental wellness.

PM Modi’s emphasis on nutrition was further evident when he spoke about the importance of millets and vegetables in one’s diet. He encouraged students to care for their bodies, recognising that maintaining good health contributes significantly to a sharper mind and better academic performance.

Exam pressure was another focal point of PM Modi’s speech. He acknowledged the intense pressure that students often face in Indian society due to expectations surrounding academic achievements. “Exams are just a part of life,” PM Modi reassured the students, adding that success and failure are not permanent states. Reflecting on the societal pressure that many students experience at home, he urged students to embrace challenges and focus on their individual growth, rather than succumbing to the pressure of achieving perfect grades.

PM Modi used cricket players as an example to explain how even sports professionals face immense pressure. He said that in sports, as in exams, players must rise to the occasion and perform at their best. He further emphasised that students should focus on what they can control, like their preparation and mental attitude, and not get bogged down by external pressure.

The event’s format was designed to be more interactive and dynamic, with students directly engaging with PM Modi in a conversation-style format. Students shared their concerns and received practical advice from the Prime Minister, making the session relatable and highly impactful. The PPC 2025 was not just about managing exam stress; it was about fostering holistic development, including mental health, physical well-being, and emotional resilience.

PPC has grown immensely since its inception in 2018. The program has now become a national movement, transcending its original format of a town-hall interaction. The last few editions, including this year, have incorporated a digital aspect, expanding its reach and making it more accessible to students from all corners of India.

PM Modi also introduced a new “Stories of Success” segment for this year’s edition, which will feature toppers from prestigious exams like UPSC, IIT-JEE, CBSE, and others. These success stories will serve as a source of motivation for students, as they share how PPC influenced their exam preparation strategies and kept them motivated throughout their academic journeys. The success stories will focus on overcoming obstacles, setting realistic goals, and learning to deal with stress in a healthy manner.

Pariksha Pe Charcha 2025 has once again demonstrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to supporting students as they navigate the pressures of academic life. By focusing on critical elements like sleep, nutrition, and stress management, PM Modi has not only reassured students but also empowered them with practical advice. As the nation watches and participates in this year’s edition, it is clear that PPC has become more than just an event; it is a vital platform that helps students across India engage in a meaningful conversation about their well-being, their academic journeys, and their futures.
