Trends of the counting of votes in Delhi assembly polls on Saturday morning projected Congress candidate Alka Lamba who contested from the Kalkaji constituency as trailing with a huge margin of votes.

Speaking to reporters here Lamba who was pitted against BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri and AAP’s Atishi in the constituency said that people will not forgive the culprits of Delhi, adding that those who damaged Delhi are going to lose.

“Delhi will not forgive the culprits of Delhi… I don’t know who is at advantageous position and who is facing the loss; those who damaged Delhi it is their loss,” the Congress leader said .

Earlier today, Congress leader Vishesh Tokas enthused confidence in his party’s ability to emerge as “king-maker” stating that no government will be formed in Delhi without Congress’ support.

Speaking to ANI, Tokas, who had contested from the RK Puram constituency emphasized that the Congress will get more seats than expected.

“Congress will get more seats than expected and I assure you that government in Delhi will not be formed without Congress party…Congress will be the king-maker in this election,” he said.

As per the early trends from the Election Commission, the Congress is yet to open its account in the Delhi election results.

Meanwhile As per EC trends at 11:40 am, Lamba trailed by a vote margin of over 23,000 votes. She was projected to have won only 2328 votes while BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri was projected as leading from the seat with 25792 votes. The trends showed Delhi CM and AAP candidate Atishi had got 22561 votes, according to the Election Commission of India.

Earlier today, BJP candidate Bidhuri exuded confidence as early trends indicated his party surging ahead of AAP in 46 out of 70 assembly constituencies in the national capital. Bidhuri, attributed this lead to the people’s desire for development, which he claims has been lacking under AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership over the past decade.

He emphasised that he was not in the game for personal gain or to become the Chief Minister, but rather to genuinely serve the people.

Further the BJP leader lashed out at former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of misleading the public through false promises and distributing freebies.

“Kejriwal won twice because he distributed freebies and made false promises. But in the last 10 years, he was exposed. If the people of Kalkaji want development, they will give a send-off to Atishi. This lead (from Kalkaji) is the blessing of people of Kalkaji. Kejriwal has done no work in Delhi in the last 10 years. I believe aapda is going and BJP will come to power…We are here to serve the public, not for any position like CM,” said Bidhuri.

BJP is currently leading in Bawana, Bijwasan, Chhatarpur, Delhi Cantt, Dwarka, Ghonda, Gokalpur, Greater Kailash, Hari Nagar, Jangpura, Kalkaji, Karawal Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, Madipur, Malviya Nagar, Mangol Puri, Model Town, Moti Nagar, Mundka, Mustafabad, Najafgarh, Nangloi Jat, Nerela, Okhla, Palam, Patparganj, R. k. Puram, Rajinder Nagar, Rajouri Garden, Rithala, Rohini, Rohtas Nagar, Shahdara, Shakur Basti, Shalimar Bagh, Tri Nagar, Uttam Nagar, Vikaspuri, Vishwas Nagar, and Wazirpur.

AAP has gained a lead on 26 seats including Chandni Chowk, Rajinder Nagar, Greater Kailash, Trilokpuri, Seemapuri and Babarpur seats. The majority mark to form the government in the national capital is 36.

The majority mark to form the government in the national capital is 36.

The AAP is aiming for a third consecutive term, while the BJP is making all efforts to return to power after more than two decades in the national capital.
