Owing to the presence of crores of devotees at the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has deployed 16,000 karyakartas to ensure smooth traffic management and provide essential services to pilgrims. These volunteers are stationed at key intersections and roads within the fairgrounds, assisting devotees in navigating the area while working in coordination with the police to control the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

An RSS worker engaged in service at the Mahakumbh site stated that the organisation has been actively preparing for the grand religious gathering for several weeks. To streamline the traffic system, the karyakartas have undergone special training and are now working alongside law enforcement authorities to ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience.

“Managing traffic is a significant challenge due to the large number of pilgrims arriving for Mahakumbh. The role of RSS karyakartas in this regard is critical as their presence helps in regulating movement and preventing congestion,” the Sangh worker said.

Apart from managing traffic, RSS karyakartas are also engaged in sanitation, healthcare, and other essential services. The organisation considers the Mahakumbh to be a national event and emphasises collective responsibility in making it a success.

Accommodation Arrangements for Stranded Pilgrims

To accommodate travelers who may be stranded in Prayagraj, the administration, in collaboration with RSS and Allahabad University, has arranged temporary shelters within the university premises. The university has opened its gates to host pilgrims, with tent facilities available inside the campus. Travelers seeking shelter can reach Gate No. 1 of the university and seek assistance from Sangh karyakartas stationed there.

For further guidance, the following contacts have been provided:

  1. Rakesh Tiwari (Co-Province Karyavah, Kashi Center) – 9454940375
  2. Aditya Ji (Department Promoter, Prayag) – 9452433932
  3. Mukesh Ji (Division Incharge, Kumbh Mela Area) – 9450502262
  4. Manoj Ji (Division Incharge, Central City & Prayag Junction Station) – 9307025992
  5. Premsagar Ji (District Pracharak, Gangapar) – 9889800307
  6. Ajay Ji (Department Intellectual Head, Prayag, Naini & Arel Area) – 9838599503

Following an unfortunate stampede incident in the Kumbh Mela area, RSS karyakartas have intensified their service efforts. Organised into dedicated teams, they are actively assisting the administration in managing traffic, controlling crowds, and ensuring the safety of pilgrims.

Additionally, Sangh karyakartas have initiated food distribution drives at various locations. At Sector 9’s Kalash Dwar and Sector 7’s Surya Dwar, karyakartas have been seen helping in traffic management. Meanwhile, in Bela Kachhar, Phaphamau, the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Nagar RSS unit arranged food and refreshments for stranded pilgrims.

At Rajju Bhaiya Nagar in Daraganj and Subedarganj, workers have been distributing food packets and tea-biscuits to those in need. Dr. Murarji Tripathi, the provincial publicity chief of RSS Kashi province, confirmed that karyakartas are extending their support to pilgrims stuck in nearby districts such as Pratapgarh, Sultanpur, Varanasi, and Mirzapur.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has appealed to Hindu society across the country to remain calm and assured that its karyakartas are actively engaged in relief work. “We are fully alert and ready to assist devotees in every possible way,” an RSS spokesperson stated.

With the combined efforts of the administration, police, and RSS karyakartas, the Prayagraj Mahakumbh continues to witness an organised and safe pilgrimage experience for millions of devotees.
