Patna: As many as two children sustained minor injuries in a bomb blast that took place in Gaya’s Sherghati town on Tuesday night, January 7, police said. The incident occurred on the roof of a mason’s house located in Ramna colony of Sherghati town.

The house owner has been identified as Mohammad Mansoor who worked as a mason. The children injured in the explosion were identified as Mansoor’s son Nurain (11) and a nine-year-old child from the neighborhood.

Both the injured children were rushed to the hospital following the blast and, were reported to be out of danger.

A police team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) cum SDPO and Sherghati SHO inspected the spot after getting information about the explosion. Preliminary investigations suggest that the explosion took place while bomb making.

“Marks of bomb explosion, bold stains and material used in bomb making were found from the spot,” informed ASP, Sherghati. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team, a bomb disposal squad and a dog squad was also dispatched to the location.

Initial investigations into the case suggest that the incident is related to the bomb explosion that occurred in the Golbazaar area of the town on January 6. Bombs were hurled in the Golbazar locality of the town by miscreants who targeted a hospital (Clinic) owned by a retired health director. The miscreant had also fired bullets before fleeing the scene. As of now the incident is being investigated by a Special Team .

According to preliminary investigations, neighbors and nephews of the said mason, Mohammad Mansoor were involved in the attack. The accused were making bombs on the roof of Mansoor’s house on Tuesday night when an explosion occurred accidently, injuring both the children who were playing over there.

A case under relevant provisions of the Bhartiya Nyay Samhita (BNS) and Explosive Act has been registered against Mohammad Mansoor and the other accused. The matter is being investigated by the authorities.

Incidents of similar nature have turn heads on occasions and similar cases have come to light from separate districts of the state, raising concerns over access of explosives/materials by criminals for bomb making.
