On the first days of the New Year, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the transformative development that UP has seen under the BJP’s “double engine government,” while addressing a foundation stone-laying and inauguration event in Gorakhpur. He announced nine development projects worth Rs 1,533 crore, focusing on road connectivity, farmers’ welfare, and food and drug security.

Highlighting the stark contrast between past and present governance, CM Yogi Adityanath cited the revival of Gorakhpur’s closed fertilizer factory and Pipraich’s sugar mill as examples of BJP’s proactive approach. These establishments, shut down under previous governments, are now operational, creating jobs and boosting the local economy. He criticized previous administrations for neglecting essential development, especially in health and industry. For example, during the Samajwadi Party’s rule, encephalitis outbreaks caused large-scale child fatalities, disproportionately affecting Dalit and minority communities. The BJP government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, eradicated the disease.

He noted that road conditions which were once plagued by potholes, have seen a dramatic transformation with the construction of two-lane, four-lane, and six-lane roads. Gorakhpur is now connected to major cities like Lucknow and Varanasi, fostering trade and tourism. Additionally, the modernization of BRD Medical College and the inauguration of AIIMS Gorakhpur have significantly improved healthcare facilities.

The Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to uplifting farmers and the youth. He announced the establishment of a veterinary college and an agricultural university in Kushinagar, which will train farmers in modern agricultural practices. The renovated agricultural school in Gorakhpur will further support innovation in farming.

To support farmers, the government has introduced a Rs 4,000 crore project in collaboration with the World Bank, providing subsidies on agricultural equipment and setting up weather stations for timely irrigation and sowing decisions. The state has also achieved a substantial increase in oilseed production, doubling from 12 lakh metric tonnes to 28.5 lakh metric tonnes.

Yogi Adityanath emphasized the government’s dual focus on development and heritage preservation. The revival of Gorakhpur’s Ramgarh Taal as a tourist center and the organization of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj reflect efforts to enhance the state’s cultural appeal. He noted that the Maha Kumbh, a historic event occurring after 144 years, will attract global attention and showcase Uttar Pradesh’s rich heritage.

The Chief Minister shed light on the creation of new universities, infrastructure projects, and investments worth Rs 15,000 – 20,000 crore in Gorakhpur over the past five years. Thousands of youth have secured employment due to these initiatives.

Yogi ji reaffirmed the BJP’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” ensuring benefits of government schemes reach every section of society without discrimination. He called for active public participation and self-discipline to sustain progress. The Chief Minister concluded by expressing hope for continued public support for the BJP’s double engine government.
