On January 3, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a series of transformative projects in Delhi, including the much-anticipated Veer Savarkar College at Roshanpura, Najafgarh. The college, being developed as part of a Rs 600 crore initiative, is set to provide world-class educational facilities designed to cater to the evolving needs of students in the region. This project is part of an ambitious plan to expand Delhi University’s infrastructure, including the establishment of a new Eastern Campus at Surajmal Vihar and a Western Campus at Dwarka.

The inauguration of the Veer Savarkar College highlights the government’s commitment to enhancing access to higher education and fostering a modern academic environment for future generations. The college will be equipped with state-of-the-art amenities, offering students a holistic learning experience in a modern, eco-conscious setting. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision of ensuring quality education for all, and the new campuses will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the future of Delhi’s educational landscape.

Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the second phase of the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project at Swabhiman Apartments, Ashok Vihar. Under this project, 1,675 newly constructed flats were handed over to eligible beneficiaries from the Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters, marking a significant milestone in the government’s ‘Housing for All’ mission. The flats are equipped with modern amenities, providing residents with a healthier and more sustainable living environment. For every Rs 25 lakh spent on constructing a flat, beneficiaries are required to contribute only Rs 1.42 lakh, with an additional Rs 30,000 for five years of maintenance, making the project accessible and affordable.

In addition to the slum rehabilitation initiative, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated two major urban redevelopment projects. The World Trade Centre (WTC) at Nauroji Nagar is a prime example of modern urban transformation, where over 600 dilapidated quarters have been replaced with state-of-the-art commercial towers. The WTC offers around 34 lakh square feet of premium commercial space, designed with green building practices, including solar energy generation and rainwater harvesting systems. This project not only boosts Delhi’s commercial infrastructure but also sets a benchmark for sustainable urban development.

The General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar, another key project, consists of 28 towers housing over 2,500 residential units. The design of the quarters incorporates eco-friendly features such as rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment plants, and solar-powered waste compactors, promoting a greener and more sustainable urban living environment.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the CBSE’s Integrated Office Complex at Dwarka, a state-of-the-art facility built at a cost of Rs 300 crore. The complex includes advanced office spaces, an auditorium, a data center, and a comprehensive water management system. Constructed to meet the Platinum Rating standards of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), the complex is designed to be both functional and environmentally sustainable.

Earlier today, PM Modi said that today is an important day for Delhi’s development as he will shortly inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for a wide range of development works.
