“We all are different, yet one. West is of the opinion of ‘survival of the fittest,’ ‘to each his own,’ ‘I’ll take care of my needs, you take care of yours,’ selfish interests, ‘I can only think about myself, what happens to nature, environment is none of my business. If I destroy nature in the process, it will be fair as I have to live.’ Bharat believes in the exact opposite. We think about others before ourselves”, said RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat while speaking in Pune on the 23rd celebration of Sanjeevan Vyakhyanmala on December 19.
Talking about Utkranti he said, “nature takes its own course. Food chain states that bigger fish eats smaller fish to survive, ‘jeevo jeevasya jeevanam’. So the one who is at the top of that food chain is the King, whom extremely few eat. After Utkranti, the one at the bottom most position of food chain rose to the top and destroyed most of the natural resources for his own consumption. ‘I won’t care for anyone else because we are all different. To survive, I have to be strong and to be strong I have to consume everything. There is no need to think about that which is useless and whatever causes obstacles coming across should be trampled.’ Assuming that this is how nature works, way of living took place since last 2000 years”.
While mentioning the evolution of mankind, he said humans are inherently born with the behavioural need for ruling over the oppressed, it is called rakshasa pravritti, which arises due to ego. The other is deva pravritti, which says others may live peacefully with us, and we will protect the needy.
“Who we are, what our identity is cannot be an issue for conflicts. We have always seen all beings as our own. For ages we have lived in a way that has thought about the comfort of others. Here in Bharat, ‘only what we deem is right’ won’t be tolerated. I am devoted to my faith as much as I am to anyone else’s. So, conversion through force and insulting the devi-devatas for the same won’t be tolerated. It cannot be a part of our national life”, he said.
Dr Bhagwat furtehr said that, “there should be no doubt about it. We celebrate December 25 at Ramakrishna Mission because we are Hindus, it is inherent in us. We have, since time immemorial, been living harmoniously with each other. If the world wants to live so, then Bharat has to have that harmony within. Hindus deeply feel for their devotional sites. But what will happen if we bring forth a new issue everyday due to those feelings? This cannot go on. We have to give the world a model to emulate if we want to show them we can live harmoniously with each other”.
He further stated that some ideologies have come from outside of Bharat that traditionally have intolerance towards others. “They had ruled this nation some time in history so they feel entitled to rule again. But they forget that our country runs according to the constitution. Here nobody rules, people give their mandate to a candidate who later, runs the state. People are the real rulers. Times of monarchy and superiority are long gone. We must forget old fights and accept everyone with open arms. Our sanskriti teaches us that we acknowledge and accept you as you are with your faith and belief. But time and again we have been backstabbed. Last backstab was when this assimilation had started to happen and Aurangzeb killed his brother Dara Shikoh and others like him. This brought back a wave of intolerance”.
“The wave re-emerged in 1857. The British saw that these people fight amongst themselves but when it comes to a foreign oppressor, they all come together. So it is better to let them fight, and thought it best to ‘divide and rule.’ It resulted in the creation of Pakistan. We live in independent Bharat as Bharatiyas, we are one; then what is this talk of differences, superiority, supremacy? Who are minority and majority? We all are equals. Therefore, we should forget intolerance and become one with the nation’s all-inclusive sanskriti. Those who are the keepers of this sanskriti must remember, fear arises only because we are disorganised. Become united, get empowered. Increase your potential so much that those who try to scare you, must feel scared themselves to see you get back on your feet. But do not scare others. Be that Bharatiya”, he added.
“Our nation is not created by the British, it is sanatana, it has always been. It is not related to politics, but to dharma, sanskriti, satya. The foundation of our nation is the dharma that has been there since the creation of the universe. This is the dharmaadharit nation that will teach the world about dharma. This must be clear in our minds always. There should be no two says in this matter. The world believes that if we want to become one, we have to be like each other. We believe diversity is the adornment of unity. So it must be respected and accepted, respect own uniqueness and accept that of the others. Our nation lives as one with all the diversity. It should become our nature as well”, Dr bhagwat said.
“The most important thing is when the role becomes clear in our minds, it should reflect in our acts. Saying one thing and doing something else altogether is the mark of cowardliness. Arrogance makes one act in such a way. We see this happening all over the world, I don’t have to mention any names. Thoughts on caste, discrimination should be thrown away lock, stock and barrel. This should be reflected in our homes. In the past 1000-1200 years, we practised many adharmik acts, under the garb or dharma, unknowingly due to ignorance and sometimes selfishness. We must remove that adharma from our lives. Follow what the sages preach, about what the erudite say; but pay attention to what the seers show because only they know what the truth behind the creation of dharma, sanskriti is. They are the true sakshatkaris who are in constant connect with this truth. They exist even today. Bharat is blessed to have this tradition going on all along”, he said.
