Guwahati: One more Hindu Assamese girl lost her life after falling prey to love jihad. The victim was identified as Popi Hazarika,26 years, of Majuli island district in Assam. The heinous crime came to light after the dead body of victim Popi Hazarika was found on a footpath in Barpeta Road town on 26th November, around 400 kilometers away from her home in Majuli. Police investigation revealed many sensational facts of Love Jihad and how the victim lost her life falling prey to her fake lover Sanidul Islam.

As per information, Sanidul Islam from Mandia area of Barpeta district,  created a fake facebook account as Pritam Deka and made contact with victim Popi Hazarika with his fake Hindu identity through social media. The social media friendship turned into a love affair after some time. Sanidul Islam visited the victims house in Majuli pretending himself as Pritam Deka. Sources close to the victim’s family informed that their relationship was known to them and they didn’t have any objection. Fraud Sanidul convinced the victim to come to Guwahati in search of a better living and said he was also trying his luck in the capital city. Little known to his original identity, the victim agreed to come to Guwahati and finally she reached Guwahati without her family’s consent. Sources said that Love Jihadi Sanidul Islam took the victim to Barpeta Road town, around 125 kilometers from Guwahati. Initially Sanidul forced the poor victim to take drugs. Her friend disclosed that they were living together in a rented house in Barpeta road where she was tortured by Sanidul and forced to take drugs. Sources said that she was even allegedly forced into prostitution by her fake lover Sanidul Islam.

However, things took.ugly turn on  November 26. The victim became senseless in her rented house and the owner of the rented house threw her into the footpath. Later she died and was seen by the locals. Police rescued the body and started an investigation. The owner of the rented house Urmila Devi, her son Biki, Anna Shil and Bishal have been arrested by Barpeta police. But the main accused Sanidul Islam is still on the run. The sensational incident once again exposes the social evil of love jihad. How numbers of Hindu girls falling prey to love jihad in the state in recent past and many even lost their lives is now a serious matter of concern. The family of the victim girl demands a thorough investigation of the incident and immediate arrest of the culprit Sanidul Islam. Whether the victim was forced to take drugs or whether she was forced into prostitution is now the matter of proper investigation by Assam police. The unveiling of truth and punishment of the culprit can only give justice to the poor victim.
