RANCHI: Maoists have killed two youth in Jharkhand’s West Singhbum district. The gruesome incident has taken place in Geeru village of Maoist affected Gudri police station limits of Chaibasa on Saturday, November 24 where two youths were hacked to death with sharp edged weapons.
The incident is suspected to be carried out by the cadres of People Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a splinter group of the CPI (Maoist) active mainly in Jharkhand.
According to the preliminary information, around 5-6 armed men entered the Geeru village on late Saturday evening and dragged three youths in open. One of the youth however manages to dodged the Maoists and fled the scene, the other two were later hacked to death by the attackers.
It’s been learned that one of the youth who manages to escape the scene was on the hit-list of the Maoists. The said individual was reportedly indulged in sand mining work in the nearby locality and a few people had warned him in the past as well.

It is being speculated that the Maoists have carried out the incident for levy money. The killing of the youths has left the villagers in a state of panic and fear.
Learning about the incident, a police team too reached the spot. An investigation in regard to the incident has been now initiated by the authorities and search operations in the nearby areas are being conducted.
Notably, incidents of similar nature have been keep coming to the fore from far fledged remote areas infested by Maoist-insurgency across states, highlighting the grave threat faces by the common citizens residing in such areas.
