Islamic fundamentalism in Bangladesh is looking incurable like cancer. The Islamic fundamentalist government led by Muhammad Yunus is maintaining silence on the atrocities being committed against Hindus, the result of which is that temples are being attacked every day and people are being forcibly converted to Islam. The latest case is being reported from Bagerhat district, where a Hindu girl, Ritu Chakraborty, was forcibly converted to Islam.

According to a report by the Voice of Bangladeshi Hindus on the social media platform X, a minor Hindu girl, Ritu Chakraborty, was forcibly converted to Islam by the terrorist organisation Jamaat-e-Islami.

The Hindu Post’s X handle provided a detailed report, stating that the forced conversion of Hindu girls is a growing issue in Bangladesh. Ritu Chakraborty, a minor from Bagerhat, mysteriously disappeared from her home a few days ago. On November 24, she reappeared on Facebook, posting a video in which she claimed to have voluntarily converted to Islam. Her statement mirrors those made by many other Hindu girls who, after being manipulated and coerced, assert that their conversion was a choice. With the law and government failing to address these issues, it is feared that more such cases may arise in the future.

In the shared video, Ritu first says ‘Assalam Wale Kum’ in a stammering voice while avoiding the camera’s gaze. After this, she tells about herself. Ritu also tells that she is doing BA, she is intelligent and she has taken this step on her own will. Along with this, she also says that she does not believe in caste, religion, sect, so she embraced Islam. Looking downwards in the video, Ritu says that her parents were not ready for this, but still she took this step on her own will.

The forced conversion of Ritu Chakraborty highlights the alarming rise of religious intolerance and persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh. Despite claims of voluntary conversion, it is widely believed that many Hindu girls, like Ritu, are victims of coercion and manipulation by extremist groups like Jamaat-e-Islami. These incidents are becoming increasingly common, with many Hindus facing threats, violence, and forced conversions, particularly in rural areas.

The government’s silence under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Yunus has only exacerbated the situation, leaving the minority Hindu community vulnerable. Hindu temples are under attack, and innocent people are being subjected to violence and discrimination, yet there seems to be little action taken to prevent these atrocities.
