The demolition of the illegal structures followed an inspection by District Collector Ruchika Chauhan on November 18th, during which she determined that the boundary walls were unlawfully constructed on land belonging to the Shri Ram Janaki Mandir Trust. As a result, orders were issued to file a case against those responsible for the encroachment and to carry out a demolition drive to remove the structures.

Gwalior Collector’s office takes swift action against land encroachment

The Collector’s office in Gwalior, led by Ruchika Chauhan, has confirmed decisive action against encroachment on 8.75 bighas of government land, valued at Rs 100 crores, belonging to the Shri Ram Janaki Mandir Trust in Taraganj. Following an inspection on November 18, Chauhan directed the registration of a case and ordered the demolition of an illegal boundary wall constructed by Manoharlal Bhalla, who was attempting to fraudulently sell plots on the encroached land.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the Collector’s office stated, “The swift action by the administration has not only reclaimed valuable government land but also protected innocent buyers from falling prey to fraudulent activities.” Chauhan also instructed all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to ensure the protection of temple-related properties and prioritise the removal of encroachments.

Land mafia’s plot to sell encroached land foiled

According to media reports, the operation to demolish the illegal structures was led by SDM Lashkar Narendra Babu Yadav. He revealed that Manoharlal Bhalla was behind the construction of the illegal boundary wall and had planned to sell plots from the encroached land. Yadav emphasised, “The swift action by the district administration not only recovered valuable government land but also prevented innocent buyers from falling victim to this fraudulent scheme.”
