Uttar Pradesh to invest Rs 726.61 crore in Shamli’s first private Textile Park

Uttar Pradesh is set to establish its first private textile park in Shamli under the 2022 Textile & Garment Policy, with an investment of Rs 726.61 crore and the creation of over 5,000 jobs. This initiative aims to boost the local economy and promote industrial development in the region.

In a significant move toward bolstering industrial development and job creation in Uttar Pradesh, the state government has announced plans to establish its first private textile park under the “Uttar Pradesh Textile and Garment Policy 2022”. The park, which is set to come up in Kairana tehsil of Shamli district, is a crucial step toward boosting the textile industry in the region and creating much-needed employment opportunities.

The proposed textile park will witness an investment of Rs 726.61 crore, which will be pivotal in transforming the local economy. According to the government, this project will directly and indirectly provide employment to more than 5,000 people, thus contributing to the socio-economic growth of the area.

The development of the textile park is a part of the larger vision set by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s administration to transform Uttar Pradesh into a leading industrial hub. The government has been actively working to implement policies that attract large-scale investment, promote the textile sector, and create jobs, especially in less developed regions. The 2022 Textile and Garment Policy is designed to provide financial and infrastructural support to the textile industry and tap into the growing demand for Indian-made textiles globally.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, known for his strong emphasis on industrial development, commented on the project, highlighting the importance of private investment in realizing Uttar Pradesh’s economic potential. This textile park is expected to attract further private investment in the future, creating a ripple effect of economic growth in the state.

The location of the textile park in Kairana tehsil, village Jhinjhana, is a strategic decision by the government. Shamli district, which has historically been less developed in terms of industrial infrastructure, stands to benefit significantly from this project. The textile park is expected to bring in not only direct employment but also indirect opportunities by boosting ancillary industries such as transportation, packaging, and local service providers.

The proposed textile park will also be a step towards addressing the issue of migration from rural areas to urban centers. With job opportunities created locally, people in the Shamli district and surrounding regions may choose to stay closer to home, thereby reducing pressure on Uttar Pradesh’s urban centers.

The Rs 726.61 crore investment in this textile park will primarily go toward setting up the necessary infrastructure, including state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, logistical support, and modern amenities for workers. The park will also have eco-friendly features and will adhere to global sustainability standards, aligning with the central government’s vision of promoting sustainable industrial practices.

Employment is one of the most significant benefits expected from the textile park. With over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs likely to be created, the local economy will receive a much-needed boost. The textile industry is labor-intensive, and this development promises to offer employment opportunities across various skill levels, from skilled technicians and engineers to unskilled laborers. This will also create opportunities for training and upskilling local workers, thus enhancing the overall human resource capabilities of the region.

This initiative aligns with the state and central government’s broader efforts to make India a global hub for textiles. India has been one of the largest producers and exporters of textiles globally, and Uttar Pradesh, with its rich history of textile production, is poised to play a crucial role in this industry’s future. By encouraging private investment and setting up dedicated textile parks, the state government aims to make Uttar Pradesh a key player in India’s overall textile manufacturing capacity.

The Uttar Pradesh Textile and Garment Policy-2022 also provides financial incentives to investors, including capital subsidies, tax benefits, and infrastructure development support. These incentives have been designed to attract private companies to set up operations in Uttar Pradesh, thus driving economic development in backward regions like Shamli.

The establishment of Uttar Pradesh’s first private textile park in Shamli marks a significant milestone in the state’s industrial development journey. With a substantial investment of Rs 726.61 crore and the creation of 5,000 new jobs, the project is set to transform the local economy and provide a model for future industrial parks across the state. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is making steady progress toward becoming a leading textile hub in India, further strengthening its position on the global textile map.

This initiative is expected to not only bring economic benefits but also contribute to the social development of the Shamli district by improving the standard of living, generating employment, and curbing migration. With a vision to promote sustainable growth and private participation, the textile park project reflects the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to creating a prosperous and industrially advanced state.

Once the park is operational, it will hopefully set the stage for further investments and similar projects in other parts of Uttar Pradesh, making it a key contributor to India’s growing textile industry.
