Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and several other leaders on August 21 paid tribute to former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh on his death anniversary, remembering his contribution to public life, cultural causes and the Ram Temple movement.

Kalyan Singh, popularly known as ‘Babuji’, passed away on August 21, 2021. On his death anniversary, leaders across the country recalled his commitment to public service, national interest and cultural values.

CM Yogi Remembers ‘Babuji’

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to Kalyan Singh on social media, describing him as a dedicated devotee of Bhagwan Ram and recalling his lifelong commitment to the Ram Temple movement. Yogi Adityanath said Kalyan Singh’s life remains an inspiring example of dedication to the cause of Bhagwan Ram, patriotism and cultural values. He also remembered the former Chief Minister for his commitment and service to the nation.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also paid tribute to Kalyan Singh and described his life as a symbol of unwavering dedication to national interest, public service and cultural values. Maurya also referred to the observance of ‘Hindu Gaurav Diwas’ in Kalyan Singh’s memory, saying his thoughts and ideals would continue to inspire people to remain connected with the nation and its cultural heritage.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma remembered Kalyan Singh as a mass leader and a committed public servant with unwavering faith in Lord Ram. Sarma said Kalyan Singh’s life represented an inspiring chapter of national service and added that his memories would continue to guide people.

Kalyan Singh and the Ayodhya Movement

Kalyan Singh played a prominent role in the Ayodhya movement and served as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister during the period surrounding the demolition of the disputed mosque in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.
His government had given an undertaking to the Supreme Court that the disputed structure would be protected. Following the demolition, Kalyan Singh resigned as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on December 6, 1992. Kalyan Singh subsequently remained an important political figure associated with the Ram Temple movement. Among his supporters, he continues to be remembered for his role in the Ayodhya campaign and his political position on the Ram Temple issue.

Kalyan Singh remains closely associated with the Ram Temple movement and is remembered for his firm position on the Ayodhya issue. His tenure as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister placed him at the centre of one of the country’s most significant political and religious movements. His legacy continues to be recalled in the context of the Ram Temple cause, cultural values and his long career in public service.
