Bihar: Chhath Ghat vandalised in Purnia, accused arrested by police

A video pertaining to the said incident has also gone viral on the internet (X), prompting critical reactions from a few noted nationalist handles, the police on the other hand swiftly swung into action and arrested all the accused involved

PATNA: In a shocking incident unfolded reportedly on Thursday late evening, November 7, anti-social elements vandalised a Chhath Ghat in Bihar’s Seemanchal region, leaving the local Hindu community fueled with anger.

A video of the alleged incident has also gone viral on the social media platform X in which a defaced Chhatth Ghat, a sacred site for Hindus could be seen vividly. A youth in the video could also be heard alleging the involvement of Islamists behind the provocative act.

The incident pertains to Mala village of Baiasi police station limits of Purnia district of Bihar which has angered the local Hindu community as seen in the viral video.

Swinging into the action the Purnea police however identified and arrested the accused involved in the act. In a updated social media post on Friday morning, November 8, the police informed that the Baisi police has identified and arrested all the anti-social elements involved in the vandalization of Chhatth Ghat.

Further action is being taken into the matter and Chhatth Pooja is being celebrated peacefully at the Ghat, read a release issued by police on Friday morning.

Significantly, Chhat Mahaparva is being celebrated by the Hindus across the country. The mega festival is primarily associated with Purvanchal region encompassing Bihar and eastern part of Uttar Pradesh.
