A serious case of alleged misconduct by a teacher has emerged from the Dehri subdivision in Rohtas district, bringing to light concerns over child safety in educational institutions. The incident occurred at Madhyamik Vidyalaya Sonoura, located in Tilouthu, where English teacher Ishtiyaq Ahmed stands accused of inappropriate behaviour with young female students.

The allegations surfaced when several young girls from the school informed their parents about the teacher’s actions, which reportedly included inappropriate touching, referred to as ‘bad touch’, and the use of offensive language. The gravity of the situation led to immediate unrest among the parents who rallied at the school, demanding justice for their children.

The statements of the students is viral on social media, where they can be seen saying, “Sir asks us to say ‘I love you’ in order to avoid punishment also, he writes, ‘Kiss Me’ in the books of senior students.” The students also claimed that the teacher touched them inappropriately.

Following the complaints, the local police took action. Ishtiyaq Ahmed was detained and is currently under interrogation. Rohtas Superintendent of Police (SP) Roshan Kumar has taken a hands-on approach to the investigation, ensuring that all allegations are thoroughly examined and appropriate actions are taken against the guilty.

SP Kumar highlighted that while the primary focus is on the allegations against the teacher, the investigation might also delve into potential local political involvement and existing disputes among teachers and with the villagers.

The school’s headmaster, Sunil Soni, expressed shock over the incident, stating that no such complaints had previously surfaced during their regular parent-teacher meetings. He has cooperated fully with the authorities by reporting the matter to senior officials and the police, emphasizing that the school is committed to ensuring a safe learning environment.

The parents are in a state of outrage. There is a widespread call for the immediate suspension and punishment of the accused teacher. The fear and distrust are palpable, with no parent currently willing to send their daughters back to school until they are assured of their safety.

Despite the case being registered and initial statements taken from the children, SP Kumar noted certain inconsistencies in their accounts. Given the involvement of minors, the police are treating the matter with the utmost sensitivity and seriousness.
