RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh police have arrested all five accused in the brutal double murder case of a head constable’s wife and his daughter in Surajpur district. The police disclosed the details of the case along with parading the accused during a press briefing, a day after prime accused Sahu was nabbed from the Chhattisgarh-Jharkhand border on October 15.

Other than Sahu, the officials have nabbed Aryan Vishwakarma alias Goldi, Rinku Singh, and Chandrakant Chaudhary alias CK, the district president of NSUI. Another accused Suraj Sahu who assisted Kuldeep Sahu in fleeing the area has also been arrested by the police.

According to the details, the prime accused Kuldeep Sahu has confessed to murdering the wife and daughter of the head constable Taiyab Sheikh, along with throwing hot oil on a constable and firing on the police vehicle while evading his arrest on October 13.

The key accused was angered by constable Ghansyam Soni’s attempt to catch him at near a shop at bus stand on October 13, after the latter identified him as a habitual offender, barred from entering the boundaries of Surajpur district.

Sahu was also offended by the swift action taken by head constable Taiyab Sheikh who launched a manhunt to nab him after he poured hot oil on constable Ghanshyam Sonwani, injuring him badly while escaping from the scene. The accused then also tried to run over the policemen with his car and managed to escape.

He then reached the residence of head constable Talib Sheikh at Mahgawan and brutally murdered his wife and daughter by stabbing them with knife and a sharp edged weapon. He then threw the bodies of the deceased around two kilometer away from the head constable’s house and fled the locality.

The police again tried to catch the accused after receiving information about his vehicle in Bishrampur area though the accused fired shots on the police vehicle and eventually succeeded in dodging them and flee by parking his car near Latori Chowki.

The recoveries of the bodies of head constable’s wife and daughter were made on October 14, triggering an outrage among the locals who in turn set ablaze the house of Sahu and staged an aggressive protest against the brutal incident.

The police under the supervision of senior officials launched a massive manhunt to nab the accused and eventually succeeded in nabbing him from the Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh border on Tuesday. The accused had reportedly boarded a bus for Ambikapur from Garhwa.

Meanwhile reacting to the arrest of the accused, Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Arun Sao said, “it can be clearly seen that people of Congress executed this painful incident. Be it the Balodabazar incident or anything else, it is clear that who is trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of Chhattisgarh. They protected and nurtured such elements in the last 5 years, it is being seen clearly.”
