Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, faced backlash after making controversial statements during his recent visit to the United States. The criticism centers around his remarks, which were perceived as denigrating India and its various institutions, including the Sikh community, the RSS, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Additionally, Gandhi’s comments on the Telugu language and Telangana have sparked strong reactions back in Bharat.

During his trip, Gandhi met with several U.S. lawmakers, some of whom are known for their critical stance towards India. The meeting was organized by Congressman Bradley James Sherman at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, DC, and included notable figures such as Ilhan Omar, Ro Khanna, and Barbara Lee.

Following the meeting, Gandhi shared on his official Facebook page, “It was a pleasure to meet with a delegation of U.S. lawmakers at the Rayburn House in Washington, DC. We had a meaningful discussion about our shared commitment to building a progressive future and strengthening the Indo-US relationship.”

The Congress Party’s official Facebook post highlighted the meeting, stating, “Shri Rahul Gandhi met with U.S. lawmakers at the Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, DC.”

The Congress Party shared that the attendees included prominent figures such as Ilhan Omar, Ro Khanna, Jonathan Jackson, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Barbara Lee, Shri Thanedar, Jesús G. “Chuy” García, Hank Johnson, and Jan Schakowsky.

Netizens have expressed concerns about Gandhi’s choice of meeting with Ilhan Omar and Ro Khanna, who have previously made controversial statements regarding India. This has fueled accusations that Gandhi’s interactions with these lawmakers may undermine Bharat’s international reputation and provoke further criticism.

While the Congress Party confirmed the attendees, including Ilhan Omar, Ro Khanna, and others, they did not provide specific details or videos of the conversations held during the meeting.

The absence of comprehensive information has sparked speculation about the topics addressed and the nature of the discussions, particularly given the controversial reputations of some of the attendees. This has led to further scrutiny and conjecture about the impact of Gandhi’s interactions on Bharat’s international image.

Ilhan Abdullahi Omar is a Somali-American politician serving as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District since 2019. A Democratic Party member, she is known for her strong views on Islam, the Middle East, and South Asia. Born in Somalia, Omar fled the civil war with her family and arrived in the U.S. as a refugee at the age of 12. She later became a U.S. citizen and gained prominence as the first Somali-American and one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress.

In 2019, Ilhan Omar faced accusations of participating in an immigration fraud scheme involving a marriage to her brother. The allegations drew significant attention, including a demand from former President Donald Trump for an investigation by the U S Department of Justice. While these claims remain unresolved, they have contributed to Omar’s polarising reputation.

Hello #RaulVinci. Any special reason for your meeting with #IlhanOmar, who visited #PoK, which was sponsored by #ISI and who tried to pass a resolution condemning #India in the US Congress? Aren't you openly now romancing with Paki allies? Who suggested this? Your mother? pic.twitter.com/tUGqvzEmZH

Ilhan Omar has consistently criticized India’s policies, particularly under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She opposed the abrogation of Article 370 and has aligned herself with pro-Pakistan rhetoric in international forums. Omar frequently raises the issue of Kashmir in the U.S. Congress, advocating for intervention regarding alleged human rights violations in the region. Her positions often echo Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir, and she visited Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in 2022 during a trip sponsored by Pakistan. Omar has propagated narratives of human rights abuses and alleged discrimination against Muslims in India.

Her connections with radical Islamic groups have also drawn scrutiny. Associations with organizations like Islamic Relief and Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD), which have links to groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan, have fueled suspicions about her broader agenda. Critics accuse her of advancing the interests of extremist groups under the guise of political advocacy.

Omar’s alleged ties with the Muslim Brotherhood, a global Islamist organization, and Qatar’s rulers have further attracted criticism. She has been accused of using her platform to promote Islamist ideologies in the U.S. and positioning herself as a spokesperson for Muslim communities. Additionally, Omar has been a vocal critic of Israel’s policies, expressing support for the Palestinian cause and often siding with extremist groups like Hamas.

Ilhan Omar had previously boycotted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his state visit to the U.S.

BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi criticized Rahul Gandhi on the social media platform X, stating: “Rahul Gandhi has met with an anti-India MP. U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar is known for her anti-India statements and was taken on a visit to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) by the Pakistani government. Her statements have expressed sympathy towards the Muslim Brotherhood and the ISI. Rahul Gandhi has become the first Leader of the Opposition whose name was mentioned by Pakistan in its anti-India statement at the United Nations. Ilhan Omar and Pannu are praising him.”

Critics argue that the concurrent visits of Indian leaders to the U.S. suggest a significant, potentially troubling development. They speculate that the timing could indicate a conspiracy involving the Deep State, potentially mirroring past events in neighboring Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, with collusion from Pakistan and China.
