RANCHI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president of Jharkhand, Babu Lal Marandi has penned a letter to the Chief Minister Hemant Soren flagging concern over the status of health care facilities in the state. The former CM in the letter has alleged that the people of the primitive tribes have been dying due to lack of treatment facilities in the state while the administration has been indulged in an infight.

Marandi letter has surfaced days after heart wrenching scenes emerges from the district hospital Sahibganj, where a six-year-old minor girl died after she was reportedly not attended by the doctors who were busy with the autopsy work.

Underscoring the incident in the latter, Marandi said “Six-year-old Gomdi Pahadin died in the lap of his father as search for a doctor by his father meet no end”. This is not the only case and a 19-year-old pregnant woman Prinsika Maharani too lost her life as ambulance was not provided to her on time.

He further said that eight villagers in Negaratand village of Karamtand block of Jamtara have died while 10 others are seriously ill, people of the state are dying after not being treated on time while the health department is busy making money, doctors are being transferred to the places of their choice after securing money and the patient of far fledged areas are not getting treatment as doctors are not available there.

A committee should be formed to look after these cases and reveal the mystery behind these deaths. Further action should be initiated against individual/institutions/doctors/hospitals responsible, concluded Marandi in his letter.

@BJP4India @narendramodi @JPNadda @AmitShah… pic.twitter.com/EfiGwmrczU

It must be noted that a girl identified as Gomdi Pahadin, a resident of Simiriya village of Sahibganj died on Monday, September 09. The father of the deceased girl later alleged that he ran from pillar to post to find a doctor to attend his minor daughter, suffering from Malaria, though his efforts proved to be futile as no doctor attended the girl who later breathed her last in her father’s lap awaiting treatment.

The heart wrenching incident prompted critical reactions from several opposition leaders including Marandi, who while blaming the state government in failing to address the health related concern of primitive tribes’ community has now penned a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Though Marandi’s post on social media platform X attracted a quick response from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha who in turn dared the former Chief Minister to write a letter on the deteriorating situation of Manipur.

Notably, home to a significant population of tribal community the state of Jharkhand has a major chunk of people living in remote regions where health care facilities are a subject of concern. The issue pertaining to lack of healthcare facilities in the far fledged regions have been duly reflected in the pictures/visuals keep emerging from these areas on regular intervals. In a similar incident recently, a few of the villagers of Chatra district were seen toeing a seriously ill patient on a cot underscoring the difficulties faced by the villagers even after seven decades of independence.
