The heinous rape and murder of a female postgrad trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College Hospital in Kolkata has triggered a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation. As the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) edges closer to concluding the case, the spotlight has firmly fallen on the primary suspect, Sanjay Roy, with DNA evidence playing a pivotal role in implicating him.

In a major development, recent reports confirm a match between the DNA of the victim and the primary accused, Sanjay Roy. This evidence was gathered through meticulous forensic testing conducted by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). The CFSL carried out separate DNA profiling on samples from the victim and the accused, as well as comparing the DNA with other seized evidence from the crime scene.

Sources indicate that the initial findings have been corroborated by CFSL experts, who have matched the DNA of Roy with biological material found at the scene. A detailed report is currently being prepared, which will include advanced scientific tests to solidify the evidence further. The report is expected to be submitted to the CBI soon, potentially leading to additional forensic analyses if required.

Sanjay Roy has been identified as the primary suspect in this tragic case. The CBI’s investigation has gathered substantial evidence against him, making him the central figure in the case. The DNA match is a crucial component of the evidence, which has led the CBI to focus on Roy as the sole perpetrator. The agency has already amassed enough evidence to draft a charge sheet against Roy, pending the final review of the DNA report by a panel of experts from AIIMS.

The CBI’s investigation has been thorough, involving interviews with over 100 individuals to piece together the sequence of events leading to the crime. Additionally, the agency conducted polygraph tests on more than ten people as part of its standard operating procedure to ensure that no aspect of the investigation was overlooked.

The post-mortem examination of the victim has provided a harrowing account of the circumstances surrounding her death. According to the autopsy report, the cause of death was determined to be smothering and throttling. The victim displayed multiple signs of a violent struggle, including facial scratches, bruises, and other injuries consistent with a desperate attempt to resist the assault.

The report details that the victim’s thyroid cartilage was fractured, likely caused by the attacker’s efforts to silence her. This injury, combined with evidence of strangulation, suggests that the victim was subjected to extreme violence. Additionally, the autopsy found blood stains, scratch marks, and bruises on various parts of the body, including the lips, abdomen, right hand, and fingers. The presence of injuries on the victim’s collarbone further corroborates the violent nature of the attack.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the CBI has also initiated a psychological assessment of Sanjay Roy. This evaluation aims to provide insight into Roy’s mental state and possible motivations behind the crime. The psychological profile will be an integral part of the case, helping to understand the suspect’s mindset and potentially influencing the direction of the investigation.
