The Odisha Government has approved the relocation of empty boxes and almirahs from Ratna Bhandar, marking the beginning of crucial repair and inventory efforts. Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced that the project will utilise Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and advanced technology to assess and ensure the preservation of this significant treasure trove.

State Government plans to offer free Mahaprasad to devotees visiting Puri Srimandir

Shri Harichandan also said that the State Government plans to offer Mahaprasad of Mahaprabhu Jagannath for free to devotees visiting Puri Srimandir. To make this possible, donors are being approached for contributions. With a daily footfall of 60 thousand to 70  thousand devotees and up to 2.5 lakh visitors on special occasions, the government is working on arrangements to ensure the free distribution of Mahaprasad to all. This initiative aims to make the sacred offering accessible to every devotee, regardless of their background.”

Odisha Government to establish Jagannath culture interpretation Union in Puri

Law Minister Shri Harichandan also announced plans to set up an interpretation Union in Puri dedicated to showcasing Jagannath culture. The Union aims to promote global awareness and understanding of this rich cultural heritage. Notably, the Union will provide an inclusive experience for those restricted from entering the Srimandir, allowing them to connect with Mahaprabhu’s culture. The facility will offer insights into various Srimandir rituals and serve as a hub for disseminating knowledge and fostering devotion to Jagannath culture among devotees worldwide.

Law Minister Harichandan addresses concerns over pending projects in Puri

Responding to queries from journalists about incomplete projects worth over Rs 2200 crores in Puri, Shri Harichandan cited land acquisition issues as the primary hurdle. He explained that some of the required land belongs to Bhagwan Jagannath’s temple administration, while others belong to private individuals. After conducting two reviews, a clear plan has been formulated to proceed with the projects. The Odisha Bridge Construction Corporation (OBCC), the project’s implementing agency, has been informed of the decision. Discussions will be held with affected individuals to address land acquisition challenges to find mutually acceptable solutions.
