The Indian Army has announced the transfer of technology for mass production of two pioneering innovations: the Xploder and Agniastra. Developed by the Army Design Bureau, these technologies underscore the Army’s commitment to modernisation in what has been designated the “Year of Tech Absorption.” The Transfer of Technology (ToT) process, facilitated by the Foundation of Innovation & Technology Transfer (IIT Delhi), represents a significant leap forward for India’s defense capabilities.

The ToT ceremony, held in the presence of Vice Chief of The Army Staff Lt Gen NS Rajasubramani, marked a critical milestone towards large-scale production and field integration. Lt Gen Rajasubramani praised the Army Design Bureau for its role in driving innovation and ensuring the effective transition of these technologies into operational use.

The Xploder is an advanced Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) designed to enhance combat and operational effectiveness. This versatile system boasts all-terrain capabilities and is equipped for a variety of tasks, including unmanned reconnaissance, explosive payload delivery, and remote disposal of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Notably, it features a self-destruct mode for effective hideout clearance and can be utilised in disaster relief operations, showcasing its broad utility across multiple scenarios.

The Agniastra is a Multi Target Portable Detonation System that represents a significant advancement in remote detonation technology. Capable of targeting multiple locations from extended ranges, the Agniastra can be manually placed or delivered using UAVs/UGVs. This system is poised to transform conventional and counter-terrorism operations, facilitating precise room interventions, bunker demolitions, and large-scale infrastructure destruction.

The introduction of the Xploder and Agniastra marks a significant step forward in the Indian Army’s technological evolution, reinforcing its readiness to adapt and respond to evolving security challenges.
