Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar condoled the deaths of 8 people in lightning strike incidents in four districts of the state and announced ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.

The Chief Minister also urged the people of the state to exercise caution and protect themselves from lightning strikes by following the instructions of the Disaster Management Department.

In a post on X on Friday, Bihar CM said, “Sadly, 3 people died in Patna, 3 in Aurangabad, 1 in Nawada and 1 in Saran due to lightning. Instructions have been given to give ex-gratia grants of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased without any delay.”

“There is an appeal to the people to exercise utmost caution in bad weather. To protect yourself from lightning, follow the suggestions issued from time to time by the Disaster Management Department. Stay indoors and stay safe during bad weather,” read the post.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar earlier expressed grief after 7 people died and others were injured following lightning strikes in Gaya and Nalanda and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased.

In a post on X, Nitish Kumar said, “It is sad that 5 people died in Gaya and 2 in Nalanda due to lightning. Instructions have been given to immediately provide an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased.”

“Instructions have been given for proper treatment of people injured due to lightning. We wish for the speedy recovery of the injured. People are appealed to be fully cautious during bad weather,” he said.

Last month, at least 12 people lost their lives due to lightning strikes across seven districts in Bihar.
