The Mumbai Police has made a significant breakthrough in the murder case of 20-year-old Yashshree Shinde from Navi Mumbai. Her boyfriend, Dawood Sheikh, who allegedly brutally murdered her and dumped her body in the bushes, has been arrested in Shahpur, Yadgiri district. The 28-year-old accused, hailing from Aldal village in Shahpur taluk, was apprehended by the police following an extensive manhunt.
Yashshree Shinde was brutally murdered last Saturday, and the police have been diligently working to track down her killer. Dawood Sheikh, who had a tumultuous relationship with Yashshree, fled to his native after committing the heinous act. The couple had met through Facebook and had fallen in love, leading to their move to Mumbai, where the tragic incident occurred.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Navi Mumbai) Vivek Pansare, the body of Yashshree Shinde was discovered in the bushes near Uran railway station. The discovery was made following a call received by the police around 2 am on Saturday. The body bore multiple scars and stab wounds, indicating a brutal assault. The young woman, identified as a resident of Uran and an employee in a private firm as a data entry operator in Belapur, had been reported missing before the grim discovery.
The Navi Mumbai Urban Police Station registered a case of murder and began their investigation. Initial leads pointed towards Mohsin, a man from Karnataka who was found to be in constant contact with Yashshree through phone call records. The police initially speculated that there might have been a romantic involvement between Mohsin and Yashshree. However, further investigation revealed a more complex relationship involving Dawood Sheikh.
Upon receiving information about Dawood’s whereabouts, a team of officials from the Urban Police Station of Navi Mumbai travelled to Yadgiri and successfully apprehended the accused. Dawood Sheikh, a labourer in Bangalore, developed a relationship with Yashshree in 2019. The relationship had its share of troubles, including a POCSO case filed by Yashshree’s parents against Dawood, which resulted in his imprisonment for six months.
The investigation into Yashshree’s murder has uncovered the possibility of a love triangle involving Dawood, Yashshree, and Mohsin. It is believed that Dawood’s jealousy and annoyance over Yashshree’s close interactions with Mohsin might have fueled the tragic incident. The police are now focusing on understanding the dynamics between the three individuals to piece together the events that led to Yashshree’s murder.
The brutal nature of the crime has shocked the community, and there is a growing demand for swift justice. The arrest of Dawood Sheikh is seen as a significant step towards resolving the case. However, the investigation is far from over, as the police continue to delve deeper into the relationships and motives involved.
The Navi Mumbai police have also taken Mohsin into custody for further questioning. They are probing his connection with the prime accused, Dawood Sheikh, to determine whether he played any role in the murder. Mohsin is expected to be brought to Uran for further interrogation.
“Prima facie, it is not known whether the girl was sexually assaulted or not; we are waiting for the autopsy report,” a police officer told Organiser. We have registered a case under BNS section 103( murder), and after the autopsy report, we will add more sections to the FIR. The investigation is ongoing.
As the investigation progresses, the authorities are committed to ensuring that all responsible parties are held accountable. Legal experts emphasize the importance of transparency and thoroughness in the investigation to prevent such incidents in the future. The community remains on edge, hoping for justice for Yashshree Shinde and closure for her grieving family.
