BHUBANESHWAR: Utkal Bipanna Sahayata Samiti (UBSS), Bhubaneswar, Odisha in association with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Odisha provided ten different types of seva (service) during  Rath Yatra at Puri. These  Seva activities included first aid, distribution of medicines, sprinkling of water, distribution of drinking water, stretcher seva, providing ambulance services, creating a corridor for ambulance emergency services and attending to ailing patients.

Swayamsevaks took the responsibility of taking the injured and unconscious devotees to the hospital immediately and making way for the ambulance inside the huge crowd. Due to the efforts of Swayamsevaks the injured and unconscious people were taken easily to the ambulance.

According to the information provided by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Utkal Vipanna Sahayata Samiti, 8 doctors, 2 pharmacists and 2 health assistants were engaged in first aid. Service Similarly, 40 Swayamsevaks took care of  2 ambulances. Stretcher Seva was coordinated by 36 Swayamsevaks.

Drinking water distribution seva was going on at ten places and 60 Swayamsevaks were engaged in this seva.

Due to the intense humidity and heat condition UBSS also water was being sprinkled on the devotees by UBSS. A total of 14 machines were installed to sprinkle water on the devotees and 42 Swayamsevaks were engaged in this.

Similarly, Swayamsevaks were deployed in the hospitals of Puri to help the injured and sick devotees. A total of 350 Swayamsevaks were engaged in helping patients in various departments of the hospital. Similarly, 150 Swayamsevaks provided their services in 10 groups for cleanliness. 60 Swayamsevaks were engaged in food distribution work.1060 Swayamsevaks s were engaged in creating a corridor for the ambulance through a human chain.

All these  Swayamsevaks were engaged in service work continuously for two days on June 7 and 8.

A day before the Rath Yatra, i.e. on July 6, at the Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir in Ghoda Bazar, Puri, senior Adhikaris of RSS informed all the Swayamsevaks present there about the service works of ten different types. After that, the Swayamsevaks  started  doing their scheduled service works.

Sanghchalak of RSS Odisha (Purv) Sameer Mahanthy, Rashtriya Seva Bharati’s organizing Secy Sudhir ji, Kshetriya Sampark Pramukh Vidyut Mukherjee, Prant Pracharak Bipin Prasad Nanda, Saha Prant Karyavaha Sudarshan Das, Prant Seva Pramukh Shantanu Majhi, Utkal Vipanna Sahayata Samiti’s president Akshay Beet, Seva Bharati’s state organizing Secy Kailash Chandra Jena, Rath Yatra seva coordinator Rudra Narayan Mohapatra were present and monitored the Seva work.
