This transition is noteworthy as it is the first instance of a name and gender change being officially recognized within the Indian Civil Services.

In 2022, the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), University of Law, Hyderabad, demonstrated its support for the LGBTQ+ community by designating the ground floor as a gender-neutral space. Rooms on this floor were allocated to students who self-identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
