Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress during his speech in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday (July 2), saying that the party has been conspiring to spread “aarthik aarajkta” (economic unrest) in the country by allegedly taking certain uneconomic steps in the states governed by them.

“The Congress is conspiring calculatively to spread aarthik aarajkta (economic unrest) in the country. During the time of elections, the promises that they made and the economic steps that they are taking in the states governed by them, it is paving the way to take the country towards economic unrest,” PM Modi said while delivering his Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha.

“They are consciously conspiring so that their states become an economic burden on the country,” he added.
The Congress is in power in Telangana and Karnataka, while it is a partner with the DMK in Tamil Nadu and the JMM in Jharkhand.

The Prime Minister said that in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress had allegedly said that if the electoral results are not in accordance to their wishes they will spread unrest in the country.

“They clearly announced during their electoral campaigns that if the electoral results do not come as per their wish, they will create unrest in the country. They announced that people will assemble and spread unrest. Spreading unrest is their motto,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister said that the Congress has been creating misunderstanding among people during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

“They tried to create unrest by questioning India’s electoral process. They spread unrest about CAA, and tried to create misunderstanding among people and the entire ecosystem strengthened them so that their political goals are fulfilled. The country has also seen how they instigated the country to get involved in riots,” PM Modi said.
