In a shocking incident in Indore, BJP leader Monu Kalyane was shot dead in the early hours of Sunday, June 23. Kalyane, who served as the city President of BJP’s Yuva Morcha and was a close aide of Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, was attacked while he was preparing for an event.

The attack occurred around 2 AM near the Chimanbagh area of Indore. According to reports, two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at Kalyane as he was putting up flags and posters for the upcoming Bhagwa Yatra. A bullet struck his chest, and he was rushed to MY Hospital in critical condition, where he was later declared dead.

The murder happened within the jurisdiction of the MG Road police station. The police have identified the suspects as Piyush and Arjun, who allegedly killed Kalyane due to an old enmity. Both suspects are currently absconding, and a manhunt is underway to locate them.

According to police reports, the incident unfolded near Ganesh Mandal in Chimanbagh. Monu Kalyane, along with his brother and friends, was preparing for the Bhagwa Yatra, which was scheduled to proceed from Chimanbagh to Rajwada. Piyush and Arjun approached the group on a motorcycle and engaged Kalyane in a discussion. During this exchange, Arjun, who was seated pillion, pulled out a pistol and fired multiple shots at Kalyane before fleeing the scene with Piyush.

Witnesses reported that one bullet hit Kalyane in the chest, while another grazed his right arm. Despite the efforts of his companions to save him, Kalyane succumbed to his injuries at MY Hospital.

Following the murder, there were reports of vandalism and arson at the homes of the accused. Police have raided the suspects’ residences but have not yet apprehended them. Security has been heightened in the Chimanbagh area to prevent any further violence.

The motive behind the murder appears to be related to financial disputes. Kalyane, known for his political influence in the Indore Assembly constituency number 03, reportedly lent money at interest, which led to conflicts with the suspects.

In the wake of the tragedy, Akash Vijayvargiya, son of Kailash Vijayvargiya and former MLA of Indore’s Assembly constituency number 03, visited Kalyane’s family to offer his condolences. The BJP leader’s murder has sent shockwaves through the local political community, highlighting the ongoing issues of violence and enmity within the region.

The police continue to investigate the case, with efforts focused on apprehending the suspects and maintaining peace in the community.
