Volunteers of Bajrang Dal, youth wing of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) took out a procession expressing solidarity with the deceased Bajrang Dal volunteer in Balrampur town of Chhattisgarh on Thursday, June 6.

The torch procession, (Jan Aakrosh Mashaal Rally) was taken out by the volunteers of VHP in the entire town during which the volunteers of the Hindu outfit were heard demanding justice for the deceased Bajrang dal worker, Sujit Soni whose body was recovered from Damrukhi forest of Balrampur on May 27.

The protestors during the procession also reiterated their demand for a fair and speedy probe into the matter. The demand for a fair investigation into the case picked up pace after the police detained three suspects in the case and claimed that Sujit and the woman were electrocuted by a trap laid by the arrested accused who had set it up for wild animals during a hunting exercise.

However, the theory given by police did not bode well with the locals and Hindu activists who in turn orchestrated a strong protest demanding justice and arrest of the real perpetrators. Further the VHP unit of Chhattisgarh also submitted a letter to the Chief Minister demanding a high level enquiry into the case.

In the letter to the Chief Minister, VHP while demanding for stringent action against the culprits and probe by  Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the matter had alleged that injury marks were found on the body of Sujit indicating torture before his murder.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Minister for Tribal Affairs, Agriculture Development and Farmer Welfare, Ramvichar Netam also penned a letter to the Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Vijay Sharma seeking a Special Investigation Team (SIT) enquiry into the matter.

In the letter, Netam had highlighted that although the police are probing the matter and arrested a few suspects in the case, in accordance with the public sentiments and demands of the family members of deceased, it looks necessary that a high level inquiry be done into the case.

It is noteworthy that bodies of Sujit and a woman was found meters away from the highway in Dumrukhi forest area of Balrampur on May 27. Following the incident VHP workers had alleged that Sujit was receiving constant threats on his cellphone about which he had also informed the VHP officials and the police.
