A group of people who had come to the police station to file complaints following a confrontation between two groups on Saturday, June 1, were attacked by a violent mob in a startling turn of events that occurred in Kharkhari of Dhanbad.

According to the preliminary reports floating in the media, the incident occurred on the morning of June 1 when one of the groups arrived at the Madhuban police station over a force cut of power supply by a group of miscreants on Friday night.

Though soon after the gathering of the first group, the other group, armed with sharp weapons and sticks, barged around the police station and pelted stones on the gathering along with policemen. The attackers reportedly also fired shots in the air during the attack, leading to mayhem and chaos at the police station.

The incident occurred hours after a number of people were allegedly beaten by a group of miscreants when the former went for an inspection about a forced power cut by miscreants on Friday night.

The initial scuffle between the two groups occurred after electric supply was charged in one of the feeders but not supplied to the other feeder due to technical issues. However, a few miscreants reportedly disconnected the supply to the other feeder as well, stating that electric supply will remain interrupted until power is restored in both feeders.

It’s been learned that when a group of youth arrived at the spot to inspect about the force power cut, they were beaten by the group of miscreants, following which the colony members, along with others, visited the police station on Saturday morning and demanded action against the miscreants.

However, the miscreants soon gathered near the spot and started pelting stones alongside vandalising vehicles parked near the police station. Learning about the incident, senior officials of the police soon arrived at the spot and took control of the situation.

Further, security personnel from a nearby police station were also dispatched to the spot and deployed in the area in view of preventing any untoward incidents. Meanwhile, interacting with the media, an official of the police informed that a scuffle broke out between two groups on Friday night. One of the groups arrived to lodge a complaint in the police station on Saturday morning when the other group tried pelting stones.

There were reports of firing shots as well, we are trying to collect the evidence, complaint is being lodged by one of the groups that has been attacked, strict action will be taken against those found to be guilty. A few security personnel have also sustained injuries and are being treated, while a few vehicles were damaged. Action will be taken against the culprits, added the official

Further, one of the members of the group who had arrived at the police station to lodge complaint against the forced cut of power supply alleged that when a few local youths went to inspect the matter on the spot, they were beaten by a group of miscreants led by Sheikh Guddu.

Power supply was interrupted following rains in both feeders, one of the feeders was repaired by the fitters while the other was being repaired. However, when the electricians tried to charge electricity in one of the feeders, they were confronted by Guddu. Further when a few youths went there to inspect they were also beaten by Guddu and his accomplices, alleged one of the complainant.

As of now, the police are investigating the matter and more details about the incident is still awaited.
