RSS plays a pivotal role in keeping the country and the countrymen safe. Even RSS-baiters admit it privately. Important milestones of the country’s history have proved it quite often. Several luminaries in the social, economic, scientific, and political arenas have disclosed it several times. Padmabhushan Justice (Retd.) K T Thomas, former Supreme Court judge, is a prominent personality among them. Addressing the trainees of RSS Pradhamika Shikashan Sibir (ITC) some time back in Kottayam, Kerala, Justice Thomas explained four strong pillars which protect Bharat. He said that after the Constitution, democracy and the armed forces, RSS is the strong pillar which makes the country and the people safe. He said that RSS imparts discipline to its swayamsevaks for the country’s protection.

Justice K T Thomas said, he believes that RSS is the organisation which deserves the credit for liberating Bharat from Emergency (1975 – 1977). He would give that credit to RSS alone.  He said snakes have venom as a weapon to defend themselves against outside attacks on them. Similarly, the might of man is not meant to attack anyone. Justice K T Thomas said that he appreciates RSS for teaching and believing that physical strength is meant to guard oneself against attacks. Physical training of RSS is to defend the country and the society at the time of attacks, Justice Thomas opined.

Justice Thomas added that if someone asks him why people are safe in Bharat, he would say that there is a Constitution, democracy, armed forces, and finally, RSS. He says this because it was RSS that fought against the Emergency in the country.

Justice K T Thomas had warm relation with former Sarsanghchalak late K S Sudarshan. Justice used to actively participate in the various dialogues Sudarshan had with Christian Church leaders. Justice has spoken and written on several occasions that RSS had nothing to do with the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. He has said that he formulated this opinion after having a deep study of the various aspects of Gandhi’s assassination.
