Guwahati: Top BJP leaders in the North East reacted sharply to the bizarre comment by overseas Congress leader Sam Pitroda on the people of the region. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that we shouldn’t take the statement lightly. Sam Pitroda is the political mentor of Rahul Gandhi and was also the adviser of the late Rajiv Gandhi ji. So whatever Sam Pitroda thinks and says, that is what the Congress party is.

Talking to news agency ANI Rijiju further said that Sam has a foreign mindset and his thinking is allients to Indian system and culture. That is what Rahul Gandhi is all about. Rahul Gandhi loves to stay in foreign countries whether it is Italy or UAS or other places. He comes back to India during elections or to make some statements only. Rijiju termed the statement by Sam Pitroda as very dangerous and damaging. The Congress leader is trying to split India’s unity and integrity looks wise and how can one responsible person even think like this? Rijiju questioned. He said it is the actual character of the Congress party. Sam Pitroda and Rahul Gandhi think like this. So any justification doesn’t make sense. Because other leaders are irrelevant. Actual Congress is Rahul Gandhi and Sam Pitroda. So Sam’s statement is Rahul Gandhi’s statement. This is very unfortunate for India, Rijiju added.

Sikkim BJP leader Pasang Sherpa said it is very unfortunate, and this is the way the Congress party always looks at people from North East. They never considered us a part of the mainstream. Only Modi ji is taking the North East closer to mainland India. During their long regime, Congress always considered us Chinese, and this is the reflection of their mindset.

Taking a jibe on Sam Pitroda Nagaland BJP leader Temjen Imna Along posted a picture of a white cat in his X handle and wrote, “Kisi Ne Kuch Bola Kya?” Oops galti se uska original pic upload kar diya!”

The Indian National Congress has often resorted to divisive tactics through their "Divide and Rule" policy. However, they must understand that the Northeast region has always been an integral part of India and will continue to be so.

Minister Along further wrote “ The Indian National Congress has often resorted to divisive tactics through their “Divide and Rule” policy. However, they must understand that the Northeast region has always been an integral part of India and will continue to be so.

Mocking the diversity of our great nation is entirely unacceptable. It is imperative that both INCIndia and Sam Pitroda publicly apologise for this derogatory remark.” Reacting to the bizarra comment by the top Congress leader, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “After I heard Sam Pitroda’s statement, I looked at myself in the mirror and I appear as a proud Assamese and Indian, not as a Chinese…This is a racist comment. It’s condemnable. I don’t know what he is trying to prove by making such a statement. There is one thing that those who are near Rahul Gandhi always insult the northeast. People of the northeast are proud Indians. You should never challenge our nationalism…Sam Pitroda and Rahul Gandhi are not two separate people. Pitroda is Rahul Gandhi’s friend, philosopher and guide. Why are you (Congress) not disowning him (Sam Pitroda)?…How is this a useless issue? This issue is connected to our sentiments. You are completely advocating racism. If this is useless, then what is useful for Priyanka Gandhi?”, CM Sarma added.
