Chief Election Commissioner of Telangana has directed the state police to take necessary action against K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), the President of the BRS Party and former Chief Minister of Telangana, for alleged derogatory remarks targeting Hindu traditions and sentiments during his election campaigning on April 25 at Bhuvanagiri town. EC initiated this action on KCR in response to the complaint received by VHP Telangana on  April 27.

VHP in its complaint to EC said “KCR’s deliberate insults towards Hindu traditions customs and sentiments; particularly targeting Ayodhya Sriram Janmabhoomi mandir akshatalu; thertham; prasadam, and the sacred saffron flag deeply hurt the Hindu community.

During his roadshow, KCR made disparaging remarks such as “AKSHATALU KALAPALI THIRTHAM PUCCHUKOVALI PUILIHORA PRASADAI THINALI VUREGIMPULU THIYALI ANTHENEE EE AKSHANTHALU, EE PULIHORA EE THEERTHHIALU EE KASHAYAM ZENDALA VUREGIMPU MANA KADUPU INIMPUTHA? MANA POLAMLOKU NEELLU THESTHADA? EMLEDU PASUPU KALUPA BIYYAM KALUPA AKSHATHALU KALUPA VURURIKI PANCHA PULIHOPA VANDA PADIMANDIKI PETTA VOTLU DOBBA” ” Such derogatory remarks пot oпy insult Hindu rituals but also hurt the sentiments of millions of Hindus worldwide who hold these traditions sacred.

(Telugu Translation – It’s all about mixing pulihora, distributing prasad, and taking out processions. Do all of these actions fill our stomachs? Does this bring water to the fields? Just mix turmeric, rice, and akshath, distribute it to villages, and then loot votes?

Recently, ECI barred K Chandrashekar Rao from engaging in any public activities for a period of 48 hours starting from 8:00 PM on May 1, 2024, in response to alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during a press meeting held in Sircilla on April 5, 2024.

He also insulted goddess of Jogulamba of state in one his of press conference as KCR, while targeting KCR

— Vasu Ramagiri (@VasuBRS) July 10, 2022

Dr Shashidhar, joint general Secetary , VHP Telangana speaking to Organiser said, “these akshatalu аге perceived by devotees as a divine blessing from Bhagavan Sri Ram himself KCR’s disrespectful comments regarding this sacred practice are deeply offensive and unacceptable. Furthermore, KCR’s attempt to gain political mileage by invoking the blessings of Allah and highlighting Thofas (Gifts) distributions during Ramzan while simultaneously denigrating Hindu customs is hỉghly objectionable: His repeated pattern of insulting Hindu sentiments during election campaigns; as evidenced by his past remarks in the 2019 general elections, demonstrates clear intent to sow discord and communal tensions.”
