In a recent development, the Kashigao Police station in Maharashtra’s Mumbai has booked an individual identified as Naim Saif Qureshi for his alleged involvement in the activity of cow slaughter. The incident took place in the Minakshi Nagar area of Mira Road in the city. As per reports, the accused, along with two unidentified associates, allegedly slaughtered a cow ahead of the Islamic festival of Eid.

Naim Saif Qureshi has been detained by the police and is currently undergoing interrogation.

However, the two other associates who were allegedly involved in the slaughter managed to flee from the spot upon seeing the police approaching on the night of April 9th.

The FIR filed in this case includes charges under sections 429 and 32 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, sections 5C, 9A, and 9B of the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1976, and sections 3 and 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, 1960.

According to the FIR copy obtained, the incident occurred late at night on April 9, 2024. Police constables from the Kashigaon Police Station were alerted to the slaughter activity in the Minakshi Nagar area of Mumbai.

Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered remnants of cow skin and blood indicative of recent slaughter. Three individuals were found near the remains, but upon noticing the approaching police, two of them fled the scene. Naim Qureshi was apprehended by the police.

During interrogation, Qureshi refused to disclose the identities of the other two individuals involved.

Additionally, the police recovered a large knife-like weapon, a rope, and cattle skin from the scene, further supporting the suspicion of slaughter activity. Blood samples collected at the site have been sent for forensic analysis.

The police complaint was filed by constable Chaitanya Narale of the Kashigaon Police Station, who received the tip-off about the incident. Further investigations into the case are currently underway.
