In Hyderabad, an alleged hate crime case has emerged, as a local sports shop stands accused of selling Longotas adorned with embroidered images and words depicting Bhagavan Rama and Sita Maata. The accused individuals have been arrested by the police and sent to jail pending further investigation.

The incident came to light on April 2, when some locals visited Global Extension sports shop, located at Koti Sultan Bazar, for sports attire, particularly langots (lioncloth), when the shop manager showed them this objectionable and derogatory fabric. Immediately, the customer informed nearby police about this communally sensitive issue.

Following this input, police personnel of Sultan Bazar Police Station immediately rushed to the spot and confirmed the presence of the contentious Longota’s at the specified shop and identified the shop manager as Mohd Mujahid (42 years old), who disclosed that the items were supplied by one Abdul Rahim Mobin.

Bajrang Dal members swung into action immediately after finding out that the shopkeeper from minority community in Sultan Bazare area of #Hyderabad was using pic of lord Ram and Sita to lure the customers.

Later the ACP and CI went to the spot and shopkeeper was arrested. pic.twitter.com/mLVuf2Cnxb

Taking this into account, the police registered a suo moto case, under sections 295, 295(A), and 153-A of the Indian Penal Code. These sections deal with acts intended to outrage religious feelings, deliberate and malicious acts intended to insult religious beliefs, and promoting enmity between different groups on religious grounds, respectively.

According to local sources, the supplier, Abdul Rahim Mobin, procured this embroidery material, which is commonly used during pujas, and allegedly stitched it into longots, which were then sold in sports shops.

Speaking with the Organiser, the SHO of Sultan Bazaar stated that they had seized all of the stocks of these langots, detained the three accused members, and sent them to jail. Further investigation is underway.

In this case, it becomes clear that Global Extension sports shop personnel know the material that they are selling is objectionable and abusive to sentiments of Hindus.

Some sections of the Muslim community in India believe they have every right to abuse and humiliate Hindu deities and religious sensibilities, but when questioned, they become part of the victimhood industry. A classic pattern became apparent to the common man, who was covered up by the so-called secular fabric that permitted purposeful and premeditated attacks on non-Muslims.
