Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari dies of heart attack in Banda Medical College

Gangster-turned-politician, Mukhtar Ansari, was admitted to Banda Medical College Hospital on March 28, Thursday evening due to a decline in his health. His lawyer, Naseem Haider, verified the situation, stating that he rushed to the hospital upon receiving the news. Now he has been pronounced dead by the hospital staff. The cause of death is reported to be heart attack.

Mukhtar Ansari was admitted to the ICU of Banda Medical College. A team of 9 doctors was monitoring him. Mukhtar Ansari was admitted to the ICU of Banda Medical College. However, the official confirmation of Mukhtar Ansari’s death has not been provided by Banda Medical College yet.

Meanwhile, security has been increased in Mau, Gazipur, and Banda. A large number of paramilitary forces have been deployed outside Banda Medical College. The headquarters of the DGP has issued instructions to remain vigilant.

With the deteriorating health of the mafia Mukhtar, his family members have left for Banda. Mukhtar’s younger son, Umar Ansari, has departed for Banda. Mukhtar’s elder son, Abbas Ansari’s wife Nikhat, and Afzal Ansari also left for Banda from Gazipur a while ago. Advocate Ajay Shrivastav, who represents Mukhtar Ansari in the High Court, has also left for Banda.

Previously, Ansari had been hospitalised for abdominal pain while in jail. His brother, Afzal Ansari, alleged that Ansari had been poisoned by a substance mixed into his food while in detention.

“Mukhtar said that he was given poisonous a substance in food in jail. This happened for the second time. Around 40 days ago also he was given poison. And recently on March 19 of March 22, he was again given this (poison) due to which his condition is bad,” Afzal, an MP from Ghazipur, said when his brother was recently hospitalised.

The Uttar Pradesh prison department subsequently released a statement indicating that Mukhtar Ansari received prompt medical treatment from the jail doctor after he fell in the toilet during the night.

Mukhtar Ansari, a 60-year-old former gangster turned politician, has been incarcerated in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh since 2005. With over 60 pending criminal cases against him, he has been convicted in eight cases by various Uttar Pradesh courts since September 2022 and was confined to Banda jail.

Last year, Mukhtar Ansari was named among the 66 gangsters listed by the Uttar Pradesh Police. Previously, his family members had voiced concerns about the possibility of Ansari being killed in a staged encounter.

On March 13, Mukhtar Ansari received a life sentence for his involvement in a case pertaining to the use of forged documents to obtain an arms license in 1990. This marked the eighth conviction and subsequent sentencing for the former five-time MLA by a Uttar Pradesh court in the last two years. Additionally, Ansari was handed a six-month prison term under Section 30 of the Arms Act.
