Holi Bhai Dooj is considered as an auspicious occasion in Hindu culture as it celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters. Also referred as Bhratri Dwitiya, it falls on the second day after falgun Holi 2024. Let’s delve into the significance of Holi Bhai Dooj 2024, Bhai Dooj 2024 date, muhurat, the rituals involved, Tilak ceremony as well as Holi bhai dooj significance.

Date and Muhurat (Timings)

According to the Hindu calendar, Holi 2024 falls on March 25, 2024 (Monday). Since bhai dooj celebrations take place after two days of Holi, hence Holi bhai dooj 2024 date is March 27, 2024, which is chaitra month’s second date in Krishna Paksha. As per the pandits’ the auspicious Holi bhai dooj 2024 muhurat will commence on March 26 (2:55 pm) and continue till March 27 (5:06 pm). Sisters can apply tilak to their beloved brothers at two time different muhurats. One will be between 10:54 am to 12:27 pm, and the other will be 3:31 pm to 5:06 pm.

Puja Vidhi (Rituals Followed)

Tilak also known as tika or teeka is a paste made with vermillion (sindoor), sandalwood paste (chandan), or sacred ash (vibhuti). Sister welcome their brothers to apply tilak on their foreheads. Tilak is always applied in the center of the forehead between the eyebrows referred as the “ajna chakra” in Hinduism. During this ceremony, brothers have to sit facing northwest directions. After applying tilak, sisters pray for the goodness of their brothers. To express their gratitude, brothers can offer monetary/ materialistic goods to their sisters as per their wishe.

Holi Bhai Dooj holds immense cultural and religious significance. Bhratri Dwitiya strengthens the bond between brothers and sisters. It fosters love, respect, and mutual understanding. In tilak ceremony, sisters pray for the well being of their brother safeguarding him from harm and ensuring his prosperity and longevity. Moreover, Holi Bhai Dooj is a cherished tradition that is being celebrated since generations. It emphasizes on the importance of family values and sibling relationships in Hindu culture. Bhratri Dwitiya is not just a ritual, it is a celebration of love, unity, and the timeless bond between siblings.
