March 19, marked a fateful day that will be in the memories of people for decades to come. Two Muslim youths in their twenties brutally slaughtered two young kids, allegedly for their religious identity, in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Javed and Mohammad Sajid, conspired to kill Ayush (13), Yuvraj (10) and Ahan (8) and successfully accomplished their plan by killing two of them. There have been startling revelations around the ghastly incident by the victim’s side and now that the second accused in the murder has been arrested, his statements are also in the public domain.

Sajid and Javed were neighbours to the victim and on the day of the attack, they were offered tea by the victim’s mother. Mentioning his wife’s deteriorated medical condition, Sajid even demanded Rs 5,000 as help from the victim’s mother, Sangeeta, to which she happily agreed. In the meantime, Sajid rushed to the terrace with the kids, while Javed engaged in chat with Sangeeta. Minutes later, Sajid came down soaked in blood, saying, “I have finished my job”.

The unthinkable had happened to the young kids, as their body with stab marks was lying in the pool of blood. Yuvraj was also attacked but he survived. Javed and Sajid had managed to escape but later Sajid died in police firing while Javed went absconding.

What Javed told the police?

On March 21, Javed was finally arrested by the UP Police from Bareilly. After getting caught, he claimed he had nothing to do with the murder but accepted that he was a party in police custody.

As per the statement of Badaun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Alok Priyadarshi, Javed told the police that Sajid had bought a fresh knife before committing the crime. He claimed that the knife would be utilised to chop meat during the month of Ramzan.

Javed told the police that, Sajid had been running his shop in front of the victims’ residence for the previous four to five years and the two sides knew each other.

Detailing the attack Javed told the police that, Sajid came to their barber shop as usual in the morning and proceeded to serve customers with haircuts and shavings. Around ten o’clock in the morning, he complained that he was feeling unwell and left. He then returned at around 1 pm and again claimed to be unwell. Afterwards, Sajid and Javed shut down the barber shop and went back to Sakhanu village where their family home is located.

He added, that Sajid was talking about having meat for lunch. Later in the day, they had returned to their shop in Badaun. He had purchased a new knife and Javed asked him about it. Sajid allegedly replied that Ramzan is going on and they could use the knife to cut meat. Later in the day, Sajid suggested that they should visit the house of the children Ayush and Ahan, as they were known to the family.

Javed told the police that he was just waiting outside the place with a bike and had nothing to do with the crime.

According to police reports, despite being married for four years, Sajid and his wife did not have any children and faced marital difficulties. The police have also interrogated Sajid’s family members. Sajid’s father claimed that Sajid had been unwell since childhood and had been taken to various Muslim spiritual healers, including the mausoleum of Chhote Sarkar-Bade Sarkar in Badaun. When Sajid fell ill at the age of ten, his mother spent several days with him at the shrine.

Authorities are investigating Sajid’s health condition, noting his aggressive temperament and moments of uncontrollable anger. There are reports indicating that he once attempted suicide by ingesting rat poison in a fit of rage. Police officials speculate that Sajid had already planned to kill the children before visiting their house.

Alok Priyadarshi stated that all information regarding the incident will be gathered and analyzed. The families of the Hindu children who died will also undergo thorough questioning.

Postmortem report reveal 23 stab wounds

The post-mortem report of the minor boys revealed that the bodies had 23 stab wounds in all, with 14 blows to Ayush & 9 to Ahan. First attacked around the neck, and later stabbed multiple times on their backs. There were wounds on the legs, meaning the boys tried to escape but failed.

The post-mortem of the children was performed on March 20, the day after they were brutally killed. As per media reports, there were blood stains on the walls of the room where the minors were killed along with the fingerprints of the minors. Here are the details from the report;

The report mentions that there are many wounds that seem to have been made by a single stroke but some of the wounds are so deep and large that it seems impossible to be made in a single stroke. Each mark narrated a tale of brutality and suffering inflicted upon the innocent kids.
