Arun Yogiraj explained how important it was for him to finish sculpting Bhagwan Ram’s eyes within a short span of 20 minutes. He added that this was a crucial step for the big ceremony to bring the murti to life. Further, he mentioned that before starting the task, he had to do some basic rituals, like taking a bath in the Saryu River, to prepare himself spiritually.

The way Yogiraj explained his journey, the intensity and devotion required for that pivotal moment sounded surreal, and his narrative captivated the audience as if it were offering a glimpse into the profound fusion of artistry and spirituality that defined his craftsmanship.

Looking at the expressive and profound eyes that were meticulously sculpted for Ram Lalla showcases the remarkable craftsmanship done by Arun Yogiraj. Despite the challenges posed by the black stone, which is known for its difficulty in detailing in comparison to a white stone, Yogiraj’s skill and dedication resulted in eyes that exuded compassion and tranquility, capturing the essence of the five-year-old Bhagwan Ram.

For the live audience, Yogiraj demonstrated his artistry by chiselling the eyes and lips of the murti of Bhagwan Shiva. This showcased Yogiraj’s exceptional talent and defined his craftsmanship. Yogiraj also shed light on the immense responsibility that he felt after being chosen as the artisan for sculpting such a revered figure. He expressed his feelings by saying he felt the weight of tradition and history that rested on his shoulders.

Furthermore, Yogiraj also discussed the challenges, both technical and spiritual, that he had to encounter during the sculpting process. He spoke candidly about moments of doubt and uncertainty, and how with his rigorous discipline and perseverance, he overcame them. He reflected that it was not just a physical task but a spiritual journey altogether. He said that in the pursuit of manifesting divine beauty in stone, he underwent a profound inner transformation. Throughout his speech, Yogiraj’s humility and sincerity resonated deeply with the audience.

From a young age, Arun Yogiraj displayed a passion for art and sculpture and sharpened his skills under the guidance of various experienced craftsmen. He immersed himself in the rich tradition of Indian sculpture by drawing inspiration from ancient temples, mythological stories, scriptures, etc., Yogiraj’s journey took a significant turn when he was entrusted with the task of sculpting the idol of Ram Lalla for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
