RKM and DUSU organise a three day cultural fiesta ‘Madari’

Rashtriya Kala Manch, in collaboration with Delhi University Students’ Union, organised a three-day cultural program called ‘Madari’. The event was inaugurated by DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh and ABVP National Joint Organising Secretary Prafulla Akant at the Faculty of Arts, University of Delhi on Tuesday, February 13. DUSU President Tushar Dedha, DUSU Secretary Aparajita, DUSU Joint Secretary Sachin Baisla, Rashtriya Kala Manch National Convenor Gunjan Thakur, and Rashtriya Kala Manch Delhi State Convener Anupam Tiwari were also present.

Nukkad Natak teams from various colleges, including Jesus and Mary College, Kalindi College, Sri Aurobindo College, Delhi College of Art and Commerce, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College, and Ambedkar University, participated in the street play competition called ‘Khichadi’ on the first day of the three-day cultural fiesta ‘Madari’. Actor Puneet Tiwari, Dr. Pratibha Rana, and Prof Jagabandhu from the Department of Music, Delhi University, served as the jury members for the street play competition.

The chief guest of the program, Vice Chancellor of Delhi University, Prof. Yogesh Singh, stated, “It is my first experience being present as a guest at the cultural program ‘Madari’ organized by Delhi University Students’ Union and Rashtriya Kala Manch. As the motto of Madari is ‘Our roots are connected with this soil,’ it is important to connect with our soil and culture. I appreciate these continued efforts of DUSU in promoting patriotism. Responding to the demand by the Delhi University Students Union to build a student centre, the university has initiated the search for land for its construction.”

ABVP National Joint Organising Secretary, Prafulla Akant, stated, “Delhi University is renowned worldwide and is considered a centre of movement and creativity. It embodies energy, patriotism, values, dynamism, and activism. Street plays have a rich tradition, and they have historical significance in the freedom movement. Street play serves as a powerful medium for public awareness and driving societal change by highlighting prevalent issues. I hope that the Madari program will foster public awareness among students through street plays.”
