Ayodhya, the sacred city known as the birthplace of Bhagwan Sri Ram, is poised to become a cornerstone in the relations between India and Fiji, according to statements made by Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister, Biman Prasad, during his recent visit.

Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad, accompanied by a five-member delegation, embarked on a journey to Ayodhya, a city revered by millions around the globe. His visit, laden with cultural significance and diplomatic overtones, aimed to strengthen the ties between Fiji and India, particularly in the realm of religious and cultural exchange.

Upon his arrival at the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Biman Prasad expressed the profound connection that Fiji shares with the legacy of Bhagwan Sri Ram and the epic of Ramayana. He highlighted the enduring influence of Indian migrants who carried the sacred texts of Ramayana and Geeta to Fiji during the British colonial era. These scriptures, he noted, became integral to the fabric of Fijian society, serving as a beacon of inspiration and identity for generations.

“For every citizen of Fiji, the desire to visit Ayodhya and have darshan of Ram Lalla is cherished deeply,” remarked Deputy Prime Minister Prasad, underscoring the reverence with which Ayodhya is held among followers of Sanatan Dharma in Fiji. He emphasised that Ayodhya’s significance transcends geographical boundaries, resonating profoundly with the spiritual ethos of the Fijian people.

Reflecting on Fiji’s religious diversity, Biman Prasad noted that Deepawali, the festival commemorating Bhagwan Ram’s return from exile, is celebrated as a national holiday with fervour and enthusiasm. This vibrant celebration serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of Bhagwan Ram and his timeless teachings, which continue to inspire millions worldwide.

During his visit to Ayodhya, Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad paid homage at the revered Ram Janmabhoomi, where he had the privilege of witnessing the divine presence of Ram Lalla. He also visited the Navya Mandir, a testament to Ayodhya’s rich architectural heritage, and was deeply moved by its grandeur and splendour.

The warm reception extended to Deputy Prime Minister Prasad by local dignitaries, including Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi and BJP District President Sanjeev Singh, underscored the hospitality and camaraderie shared between the people of Ayodhya and Fiji. Their interactions epitomised the spirit of cultural exchange and mutual respect that underpins the relationship between the two nations.

As Fiji looks towards the future, Deputy Prime Minister Prasad affirmed his commitment to following the path of justice and righteousness embodied by Sri Ram. He expressed confidence that Ayodhya’s sacred precincts would serve as a catalyst for deeper engagement and collaboration between India and Fiji, fostering enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation.

Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad’s visit to Ayodhya symbolises the convergence of faith, culture, and diplomacy, laying the groundwork for a new chapter in the historic ties between India and Fiji. As Ayodhya embarks on a transformative journey, it stands poised to impart a new direction to the relations between these two nations, guided by the timeless principles of unity, harmony, and mutual respect.
