Madhya Pradesh: Murti of Pipleshwar Mahadev desecrated in Guna; FIR lodged against Zeeshan, Anwar and accomplice

This incident is not the first assault on the temple, as it suffered a similar fate in 2013. Despite past renovations to restore the sanctity of the site, it seems history has tragically repeated itself

At a time when Hindus are indulging in festivities with Bhagwan Ram’s return to the grand mandir in Ayodhya and judgement in the Gyanvapi case allowing Hindus to worship the revered deity Bhagwan Shiv a shocking case was reported in Madhya Pradesh.

The Pipleshwar Mahadev temple, in MP’s Guna district, fell victim to vandalism in the late hours of January 31 and early hours of February 1. The heinous act came to light as priests and devotees arrived at the temple on February 1 to pay their respects to Bhagwan Shiv and found the desecrated murti and lingam in the temple premises.

Perpetrators, yet to be identified, forcefully breached the temple’s doors, causing significant damage. The sacred Shivling and murti of Nandi were mercilessly uprooted and thrown onto the road, adding to the desecration of this revered site.

Saurabh Kirar, a resident, bravely stepped forward to report the incident, filing a complaint against seven suspects identified as Shah Rukh, Reehan, Wafati, Anwar, Zeeshan, Bittu, and Raheesh. Kirar detailed his observation of the shattered Shivling and Nandi around 5 AM while passing by the temple. He expressed strong suspicions regarding the involvement of the aforementioned individuals, noting their habitual presence in the village until the early hours of the morning.

The sacrilege occurred in Bamori town, near the historic Mukti Dham, sending shockwaves through the local community. Outraged residents demand justice, urging authorities to demolish the accused’s residences and apprehend them without delay. The brazen attack has plunged the town into a state of tension and apprehension.

Located approximately 40 kilometres from Guna district headquarters, Bamori town has witnessed a surge of concern among its populace. This incident is not the first assault on the temple, as it suffered a similar fate in 2013. Despite past renovations to restore the sanctity of the site, it seems history has tragically repeated itself.

In response, locals have initiated a shutdown, barricading roads, and demanding the immediate arrest of the perpetrators. The police have mobilised a significant presence in the area to restore order. A case has been registered under Section 295, with suspicions pointing towards seven individuals. Four suspects have been apprehended and are currently undergoing interrogation, while authorities diligently scrutinize CCTV footage from the vicinity.

The desecration of Pipleshwar Mahadev temple has not only wounded the sentiments of worshippers but also reignited calls for vigilance and protection of sacred sites across the region.
