In a shocking incident, a hate crime unfolded as Muslim youth attacked a peaceful Sri Rama Shobhyatra procession in Daultabad of Hathnoora mandal, Sangareddy district. The attackers targeted the procession by hurling shoes, creating a tense atmosphere during the incident that took place on January 22 around 7:30 PM. The attack prompted an immediate reaction from the devotees participating in the Shobhayatra.

Earlier in the day, the residents of Daultabad celebrated the Pranapratistha of Ram Lalla at Ayodhya and in the evening devotees took a shobhayatra with songs and bhajans. While Shobhayatra was moving peacefully, suddenly a shoe was hurled from a building on the palanquin with idols. With this incident, visibly angered devotees gathered in large numbers in front of the house from where the shoe was thrown and demanded the police to arrest the culprits immediately. However, police managed to move the family from their house to other undisclosed location.

On receiving the information, district Superintend of Police Rupesh Kumar, Patancherevu DSP, Jinnaram, Sangareddy Patancherevu Circle Inspectors and others reached the spot with police forces.

In this backdrop, devotees marched around the village until midnight, chanting Jai Shri Ram slogans. Later, some unknown miscreants set fire to a fruit shop allegedly owned by the accused in the incident.

SP Rupesh said that those who throw shoes on the Shobhayatra will be punished. He also assured the devotees of that culprits will be arrested immediately and cases will be registered. He said that picketing is being arranged at Daultaba.

Mahes B, the Sangareddy district President of the BJP OBC, speaking to the Organiser said “That after the incident involving shoe hurling, they immediately rushed into the house from which the shoe had been thrown. Following a search, they discovered that one of the shoes had been discreetly placed under the washing machine, matching with the thrown shoe.”

Mahes B alleges the involvement of Sheik Nawaz and Sheik Jaffar in this incident. Additionally, he claims that members of the family also threw vegetables and stones at them. Later around 3AM on 23 January, they lodged a complaint with the Hathnoora police.
