In a shocking development reported from Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi, several idols installed in a Ram Janki temple in Bariatu area were broken by a few unknown miscreants on Sunday night, January 07, according to a few media reports.

According to the details received, a few unknown miscreants allegedly entered the temple premises and  vandalised a number of idols of different deities in the temple, triggering a huge outrage among the locals, who only got to know about the incident on the morning of January 8, 2024,  when the Pandit of the temple visited the premises.

Learning about the incident, a significant number of locals soon gathered near the temple premises and started protesting against the vandalisation of the idols at the temple. Later on the Bharatiya Janata Party MLA CP Singh and the local BJP’s Member of Parliament (MP) Sanjay Seth also joined the protesting locals.

The BJP leaders then also spoke with the city Superintendent of Police (SP) and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused. Taking to the X, the BJP MLA informed that upon receiving the information about the idol-breaking incident at Bariyatu road temple, he reached the spot and talked with the city SP to nab the accused and take strict action at the earliest to maintain the communal harmony.

The incident at the Bariyatu housing colony temple also attracted sharp reactions from other senior leaders of the BJP. Taking to the X, the leader of opposition in Jharkhand state assembly, Amar Kumar Bouri in a tweet said “that such malignant experiments against the majoritarian community are consistent; once again, an incident of vandalism in a temple has occurred against which the people were on the street for the whole day.”

“How many more attacks will be on our beliefs? These incidents are taking place on a regular basis; however, the coalition government is not taking stringent steps against those who have such an obtuse mindset,”  Stated Bouri while expressing his views on X.

“The Jharkhand government has failed to protect the majoritarian society; the government should immediately identify the accused and make sure that strict action should be taken against them so that such regular incidents should be curbed”, added Bouri.
