In a historic moment, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak, Dr Mohan Bhagwat made his maiden visit to the Advanced Research Center of Dr G M Taori Central India Institute of Medical Sciences (CIIMS-ARC) in Nagpur. The visit marked a significant collaboration between the RSS Sarsanghchalak and the medical research community.

State-of-the-Art next generation sequencing facility inaugurated

The primary purpose of Dr Bhagwat’s visit was to inaugurate the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) facility at CIIMS ARC. Developed with funding provided by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation project, the NGS facility is dedicated to studying undiagnosed brain infections. This cutting-edge research facility positions CIIMS as a leader in the field of neurosciences and infectious diseases.

Unveiling Nagpur’s first benchtop sequence

During the visit, Dr Bhagwat unveiled Nagpur’s first Benchtop Sequence at CIIMS ARC, emphasising the institution’s commitment to staying at the forefront of medical research and technology. The Benchtop Sequence is expected to enhance the institute’s capabilities in genetic sequencing and analysis.

Commendation for CIIMS ARC’s scientific team

Dr Bhagwat took a moment to appreciate the NGS facility and the scientific team at CIIMS ARC for their dedicated research work. The collaboration between the RSS Sarsanghchalak and the medical research community underlines the importance of interdisciplinary partnerships in addressing complex health challenges.

Special program Highlights CIIMS ARC’s achievements

Following the inauguration of the NGS facility, Dr Bhagwat participated in a special program at CIIMS. During the program, he inaugurated CIIMS ARC’s first annual newsletter, showcasing various activities and achievements of the institute. The newsletter serves as a comprehensive overview of CIIMS’ contributions to medical science and highlights the work of the Science Scientist Society wing.

Societal outreach through Research

The Science Scientist Society wing, an initiative of CIIMS ARC, aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and societal benefits. Dr Bhagwat’s presence at the inauguration emphasised the importance of translating scientific advancements into practical solutions for the betterment of society.
