In a significant archaeological discovery at the Kamrupa Anusandhan Samiti, currently known as the Assam State Museum, two intricately inscribed stones have been found, bearing the revered title “Sri Ram.” These rectangular blocks feature engravings adorned with ornate borders of creepers.
The inscriptions reveal that these stones were placed at the entrances of the council hall, known as Bijay-Duar and Jay-Duar respectively, during the reign of Ahom King Siva Singha in 1738 CE. The construction was orchestrated by Tarun Duara Borphukan, with administrative assistance from Majindar Baruah, reflecting Assam’s historical connection with Bhagwan Sri Ram.
