A row erupted after the Jharkhand police reportedly lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP), Nishikant Dubey over allegedly insulting a resident of Balthar of Deoghar on charges of cow smuggling.

According to the reports floating in media, the Jharkhand police has registered an FIR against the BJP lawmaker, Dubey and his few supporters on the basis of a complaint by a resident of Balthar of Deoghar, Jharkhand

The complainant in his application has alleged that Dubey allegedly handed him over to the police on false charges of cow smuggling and called him a resident of Bangladesh, though he is a resident of Jharkhand and was just passing by the Mohanpur Hatt after buying the cattle when Dubey confronted him along with his associates.

The development has come to light days after the BJP lawmaker from Godda while posting a video on social media on December 26, informed the police that he had handed over cow smugglers. According to Dubey the smugglers were carrying the cows for slaughtering in Bangladesh.

Taking to the X, the BJP leader Dubey wrote “that the cows were being taken to Bangladesh for slaughtering when Mohanpur police who was on escort duty nabbed the smugglers Afroz and Mushtaq. A total of 12 personnel were there in my security but the case has been registered against me not on the cow smugglers. Who is the protector of Bangladeshi cow smugglers? It doesn’t matter and I am ready to go to jail for the mother cow, it’s a crusade against the felons.”

Furthermore, the BJP MP alleged that those arrested were Bangladeshis cow smugglers Afroz and Mustaq as seen in the video. The Jharkhand police has either set them free or killed them? Now the person who has registered a case against me is a Muslim and a resident of Balthar. A case should be registered against the Mohanpur police.

I am a Sanatani and if protecting the Sanatan lead to a case against me or a force jail term it doesn’t matter for me, means the rough translation of the BJP lawmaker’s another tweet.

मैं सनातनी हूं और अगर सनातन की रक्षा करते हुए मेरे उपर केस हो या मुझे जबरन जेल भी भेज दे तो मुझे कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता।#Jharkhand pic.twitter.com/FvXharwNV0

It is worth mentioning here that reports pertaining to cow smuggling has been coming to the fore from separate regions of bordering States such as Jharkhand, Bihar and Bangladesh on a regular basis where on several occasions the smugglers are found to be from Bangladesh.
