According to the police, the security forces carried out the operation in the Dantewada-Sukma border area, successfully neutralising the three Maoists. The encounter marks a significant blow to activities of the left-wing extremists in the region and underscores the ongoing efforts by security forces to maintain law and order in areas affected by the ultras.

“The Bastar fighters and the District Reserve Group (DRG) were leading an anti-Maoist operation from the Tumakpal camp under Katekalyan Police Station between the Tumakpal and Dabba Kunna villages alongside the Dantewada-Sukma border in the Dantewada district,” said Gaurav Rai, Superintendent of Police, Dantewada.

“During the operation, the encounter took place at about 5:30 p.m., leading to the death of three extremists from the Darbha division. The bodies were recovered during the search operation. Meanwhile, arms and ammunition have also been recovered by the forces,” added the SP.

The deceased Maoists are yet to be identified.A search operation is underway by a joint team of DRG, Bastar fighters, Chhattisgarh armed forces and the Central Police Reserved Force (CRPF).

The recovered arms and ammunition further highlight the operational capabilities of the security forces in tackling Maoist threats effectively. The successful operation is expected to disrupt the Maoist network in the region and contribute to efforts aimed at curbing insurgency and promoting peace and stability.

Encounters between security forces and insurgents are not uncommon in the affected regions of Chhattisgarh, and the latest incident reflects the ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies to address the challenges posed by Left-wing extremism. The recovery of arms and the neutralization of Maoist operatives are critical in maintaining the security of the region and safeguarding the lives of civilians.

As the security situation evolves, authorities are likely to intensify efforts to counter Maoist activities and strengthen measures aimed at bringing about sustained peace and development in the affected areas. The successful encounter in Dantewada serves as a testament to the resilience and determination of security forces in their mission to combat Maoist insurgency in Chhattisgarh.
