Yet another case of allurement of Hindu man to Islam by means of grooming has come to light. In Uttar Pradesh’s Banda, police arrested a man identified as Rambabu Tiwari who became Nassir Hussain under the influence of ‘Tablighi Jamaat’. Rambabu not only converted to Islam but also started threatening his own family members of dire consequences for property. He was arrested by the police, after family members lodged complaint against him and four other Muslim youths who lured their son to attend jamaat and since then he started practising Islam and left home.

Rambabu’s family asserts that following his conversion to Islam, he is now known as Nahir Hussain, began demanding a sum of Rs 5 lakh and insisted on transferring the property into his name. He allegedly threatened to harm them if they did not comply within three days.

Acting upon a complaint filed by Rambabu’s mother, the Banda police apprehended him and subsequently incarcerated him. Additionally, the police detained four local individuals, namely Chhota Master, Mehboon Khan, Raju Khan, and Afzal, on charges related to religious conversion under the UP anti-conversion law, and they were sent to jail.

It is worth noting that earlier this month, Rambabu’s father, Pawan Tiwari, had lodged a complaint against four local Muslim villagers, accusing them of influencing his son to convert to Islam. He alleged that the local Muslim youths, namely Chhota Master, Mehboon Khan, Raju Khan, and Afzal, persuaded Rambabu and sent him to Tablighi Jamaat for a few days.

Upon his return, Rambabu Tiwari’s health began to deteriorate. He started watching Islamic videos on YouTube, frequented the mosque for daily Namaz, and identified himself as Nasir Hussain. On October 13, Rambabu submitted an affidavit of conversion at the SDM office, requesting that his name be officially changed from Rambabu Tiwari to Nasir Hussain in all legal documents.

Furthermore, the father alleged that the local Muslim youths deceived Rambabu into changing his religion in order to gain control of his valuable land.

VHP district president Chandra Mohan Bedi also commented on the case, stating that Tablighi Jamaat enticed the youth to convert to Islam by offering monetary incentives.

Meanwhile, Rambabu maintained that his conversion to Islam was entirely voluntary. In fact, in his affidavit to the SDM, he explicitly stated that he had willingly transitioned from the Hindu faith to the Muslim religion.
