All India Institute of Ayurveda Foundation Day: Sarbananda Sonowal hails global recognition which Ayurveda has garnered

Union Minister of Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, addressed the 6th Foundation Day of AIIA, where he highlighted that Ayurveda has garnered global recognition due to the relentless efforts of the Ministry of Ayush & the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi. He added that, due to the efforts made by the institute, people’s faith in using traditional medicines has once again been restored.

Sonowal further stated that during the COVID-19 period, Ayurveda played a very vital role in helping people recover and also boosted their immunity. He further said that now is the time during the Amrit Kaal when the youth should work relentlessly towards holistic health and show the world the power of Ayurveda.

Lauding Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sonowal said that he has given new direction to the field of Ayurveda as well as to yoga, so much so that the people celebrate International Yoga Day with fervour and it is gradually becoming part of their daily lives and routine.

Sarbananda Sonowal further lauded AIIA for its academic credentials and said, ‘I am congratulating AIIA for its academic achievements.” He added that investors across the globe are enthusiastic to invest in the Ayush sector, and we should work to tap that opportunity.

Unveiling of the statue of late Padma Vibhushan Vaidya Bṛihaspati Dev Triguna

On the occasion of the foundation day of AIIA, Sarbananda Sonowal unveiled the statue of the late Padma Vibhushan Vaidya Bṛihaspati Dev Triguna at the newly christened christened “Vaidya Bṛihaspati Dev Triguna Auditorium”. Vaidya Bṛihaspati Dev Triguna was a legendary figure in the world of Ayurveda. Recognising his efforts in the field of Ayurveda and for his lifelong dedication to the practice and promotion of Ayurveda, he was given the prestigious Padma Vibhushan award, one of the highest civilian honours in India.

Raj Vaidya Brihaspati Dev Triguna ji played a key role in promoting Ayurveda worldwide, and his vision was instrumental in setting up the AIIA. In his honour, Sarbananda Sonowal unveiled a statue of the Padma Vibhushan at the institute.

Allotment of land for expansion of AIIA

In wake of the accomplishments that the institute has been able to achieve, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (GoI) has allotted 12 acres of land for the expansion of the All India Institute of Ayurveda. This support will encourage the efforts made by AIIA to upgrade services for holistic healthcare.

NAAC accreditation to AIIA

One of the biggest achievements of AIIA is that it obtained A++ accreditation in its very first National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) assessment as it met all the parameters that were laid down by NAAC to get the accreditation. This speaks volumes about the incredible work that AIIA has done within a short span of time.

AIIA inks six MoUs for advancement of research

Six MoUs have been signed between AIIA and different well-known institutions like Hindustan Salt, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the Heartfulness Institute. The institute has a new molecular biology lab for advanced research, Manuscript Unit and Centre of Excellence Dakshya. This will create a new path of success in research advancement of AIIA.

Milestone of producing over 1200 publications

During his address, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary (Ayush), highlighted the progress made by AIIA in various sectors. He emphasised that in the past six years, the institution has achieved a significant milestone by producing over 1,200 publications.

Launch of New Molecular biology lab

Minister of State, Ayush Munjapara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai, said that ‘Over the last six years, the All India Institute of Ayurveda has evolved as a symbol of excellence, innovation, and a bridge between our old traditions and the demands of modern healthcare. It has consistently pushed the limits of Ayurvedic research, teaching, and practise. In the same context, the institute has made new additions in the form of a molecular biology laboratory and skill labs. With inauguration of AIIA in 2017, the dream of Hon’ble former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee has come true.’

Remarkable journey of AIIA

“It’s a remarkable milestone that wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of our Hon’ble PM Modi Ji, Ministry of Ayush, and our Ministers. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal released a short movie highlighting the achievements of the institute which have been manifold. Various technical documents, including COVID dairy were released by the minister along with others who were present on the dias.

The President of Heartfulness Institute, fondly called Daaji gave a virtual key note address and emphasised the importance of meditation and its relevance in the field of Ayurveda. He expressed his desire to open centre of Ayurveda with AIIA at Kanha shantivanam, Hyderabad.

It was in 2017 that AIIA was established for the promotion and advancement of the knowledge and practise of Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of medicine. Over the past six years, the institution has made tremendous strides in this field, becoming a hub for Ayurvedic education and research not only in India but on global scale.
